**WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITIY?**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Respite Care Worker to join our team In this role you will facilitate programming and care to children within the Respite Program with mental health needs and autism. This program provides care outside of regular school hours allowing children to learn, play and grow. There is also a summer camp program ran on weekdays during the summer.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:

- Provide and maintain a safe, group-oriented learning environment that is both accepting and nurturing for all participants.
- Ensure the safety and care needs of participants are met by building trusting and therapeutic relationships with children that promote healing and learning.
- Understand and model a mind-body-spirit connection for participants, leading and encouraging them to explore how their emotions, feelings, and beliefs affect their overall wellness.
- Communicate with parents/caregivers, colleagues and other stakeholders verbally and through written correspondence.
- Complete all medication dispensing quality assistance procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage crisis situations by assessing the risk/needs of participants and taking appropriate leadership action.

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Undergraduate degree in a human services field, CYW diploma, DSW diploma, or a combination of education and experience that is deemed to be equivalent.
- Experience working with children and youth that have mental health concerns, and/or experienced trauma.
- Proven experience in a fast-paced environment.

**ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?**

- Proven experience working independently within a broader team while providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills.

**ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?**:

- This is a casual permanent role that requires weekend and evening availability (with the possibility of some weekday availability in the summer). There is no set number of hours for this position and is based on availability.
- Satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector check is required.
- Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
- Wage: $23.45. This includes a $3.00 per hour wage subsidy.
