Category Assistant (GR)

Role Specific Accountabilities
- Support the activities of the Category Team, that contribute to driving traffic, Sales and margin.
- Support the execution of the assortment selection and promotional plan, coordinating with internal stakeholders as required
- Support the execution of Seasonal programs, and the activities within the marketing calendar. Support in season actions and/ or adjustments as required to meet objectives and timelines
- Support the activities within the Buying/ Category Review process, ensuring adherence to established timelines on the Buying Review Calendar
- Support the development of New products, coordinating cross functionally, adhering to the Private Brand Process & Guidelines
- Professional and timely communication with vendor partners, supporting the activities of the category team, while adhering to all quality, safety, and regulatory standards for all products sourced for Giant Tiger
- Communicate to stores effectively to excite and drive support and quantification of various programs

Knowledge & Skills

**Requirements**:

- Business, Management, or Equivalent
- 0-3 years related experience (Grocery retail an asset)
- Ability to problem solve and make adjustment on simple issues
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Understanding of retail mathematics related to sales, profitability/ inventory
- Great communicator, verbally and in writing
- Time management, organization and prioritization skills required
- Love for product and passion for the Giant Tiger Customer
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products

- Bilingual English and French
- Financial acumen

Category Assistant (SG)

Role Specific Accountabilities
- Coordinate the product development & execute product assortment to align with the category strategy.
- Execute on OTB needs to drive excitement between preseason purchases and in season opportunities that will maintain Giant Tigers as the price and fashion leader in the discount market.
- Conduct effective communications with stores and provide relevant information needed to assist with purchasing decisions and quantification
- Conduct and coordinate all communications with all support teams in regards to product once strategy has been set to support buyer.
- Produce and complete sku and assortment related information as per the timelines detailed in the buying calendar to minimize disruptions in the product lifecycle
- Conduct and complete product related activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Knowledge & Skills

**Requirements**:

- University or College degree in Merchandising Management or Fashion Marketing;
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in a retail buying office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent sense of style and knowledge of fashion trends
