Medicine Hat College’s Mental Health & Counselling department is seeking a motivated and innovative Summer Student to join our team and spearhead the revision of our comprehensive Mental Health Strategic Plan. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to contribute to the enhancement of mental health support services on campus.

**A little about the role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health and Counselling this position will:

- Collaborate with key stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, and mental health professionals to gather insights and assess the current state of mental health support services at our institution.
- Conduct research on best practices, policies, and initiatives related to mental health in post-secondary education settings.
- Revise our strategic plan outlining short-term and long-term goals, objectives, and actionable steps to improve mental health support services on campus.
- Create strategies for promoting mental health awareness, destigmatization, and accessibility.
- Design evaluation mechanisms to monitor the effectiveness of implemented strategies and measure outcomes.
- Draft comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate the strategic plan and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

**Details**:
As a successful applicant you'll have:

- Current enrollment in a post-secondary institution, pursuing a degree in psychology, public health, social work, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting post-secondary students and familiarity with evidence-based practices in mental health promotion and support.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in strategic planning, project management, or related areas is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting mental health and wellness in educational settings.

Terms of employment:

- Term of Appointment: May 1, 2024 to July 31, 2024
- Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
- Wage Rate: $17.00 per hour
