The Business Development Manager develops, drives and implements the control systems’ growth strategies in order to achieve and exceed bookings and gross margin targets for the assigned accounts/territory. They leverage the Account Managers in the territory to further grow business unit market share. The BDM is a high-level salesperson responsible for developing business relationships within their assigned accounts to increase market penetration. They execute the sales process, with a focus on consultative selling approach, to achieve growth targets and customer satisfaction objectives.

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE**

Co-ownership of the sales cycle
- Builds relationships with Laurentide Sales team and ensures we are positioned to win business.
- Collaborates with Strategic Account Managers and other Sales/Business Development functions by combining knowledge of industry best practices & processes with knowledge of controls systems’ portfolio of solutions to develop opportunities that meet customers’ needs and requirements.
- Provides a strong commitment to support the sales teams and Strategic Account Managers to close business and achieve bookings targets.
- Coaches & mentors the sales teams during opportunity development.
- Ensures the customers’ needs and requests are reflected clearly in proposals.
- Ensures operational readiness of proposed solutions.
- Provides strategic vision for growth in new accounts, new markets, while driving self and others for positive business results.
- Participates actively and deploys territory and account planning & strategy

Ownership of division Sales Goals & Account Management
- Acts as a first contact to customers responsible for business development for the division.
- Manages relationships, with his/her customers to ensure Laurentide is the supplier of choice.
- Prepares annual booking targets for the geographical scope by quarter. KOB, Technology, Solutions and Market segments.
- Delivers targeted bookings & GM quarterly; by KOB, Technology, Solutions and Market segments.
- Manages qualified pursuits across many accounts tailoring solutions and developing business to achieve bookings for the division.
- Matches our Value message with the customers’ business, trends, drivers, and organization.
- Targets Customer contacts at all levels of an organization including executive level decision makers when appropriate.
- Deploys a consultative approach exploring customer pains & needs and tailors solutions to meet these needs.
- Partners with proposal team to deliver wining offers that meet customer needs.
- Ensures all division pursuits are logged in the CRM with relevant information ($ value, Stage, close date, Products etc.)
- Engages and leverages Emerson resources in pursuits

As an SME & having in depth knowledge of the competitive Landscape
- Provides insights about competitive technology, and pricing strategies
- Understands our competitive advantages, differentiation, and barriers to entry.
- Coaches sales teams to present Laurentide products in a light that differentiates us from the competition.

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL**
- In-depth industry and market knowledge
- Strong knowledge of products and solutions within Industrial Automation market - specifically those related to control systems.
- A well-developed sense of customer’s business, their drivers, and their organization.
- Driven for result and demonstrates persistence in front of obstacles.
- Understands the unique value proposition of Laurentide Controls’ offering
- Good knowledge of competitors’ solutions, value propositions, market strategies and position.
- Ability to present information in both English and French, written and verbal.
