**Location**: Milton and Both For relief positions

**Positions**: Multiple

**Contract**: 12 month backfill for PT Nights 2 (Awake overnights)

**Relief**: casual / on call - Both Locations - Must take a Min. of one full shift per month

**Hours of work**: Wednesday, Thursday and Alternating Tuesdays; 11:30pm - 7:30am (awake overnights)

**Summary**

Provides crisis intervention counselling, education about violence against women, referral services and advocacy to

abused and/or homeless women and their children according to the mandate and policies of Halton Women's Place.

Ensures the safe, healthy, and effective provision of shelter services.

**Duties include but are not limited to the following**:
1. Responsible for crisis intervention, client support and other services during assigned shift.

2. Ensures a safe, secure, and healthy environment within the shelter in accordance with shelter.

policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, safety, cleanliness, etc.)

3. Provides crisis intervention to residents and non-residents, in person, via the phone or chat.

4. Provides counselling and life skills coaching.

5. Develops and/or facilitates, regular programs for clients to enhance independence.

6. Advocates for women and their children regarding social assistance, housing, public health,

child welfare, police, doctors, lawyers, schools, and other community agencies.

7. Refers women and their children to appropriate agencies and necessary resources as required.

8. Follows through with work from previous shift.

9. Completes intake and departure forms, maintains accurate and up-to-date records, logbooks.

10. Address disagreements between residents by providing conflict resolution and mediation to

de-escalate situations.

11. Holds weekly residents' meetings in accordance with shelter policy, records date, and time of Halton Women’s

12. Maintains regular and detailed client notes in Wish and in the logbook and shift change record.

13. Consults with Supervisor and/or colleagues as appropriate on matters of safety and escalation.

14. Actively participates in weekly team meetings and full employee meetings.

15. Receives and documents donations and puts them away as requested.

16. Dispenses and records petty cash.

17. Stores client medications and maintains records of administration.

18. Participates in the orientation of new employees, students and volunteers as requested.

19. Light cleaning as required and in support of the House Maintenance Worker.

20. Completes other tasks that may from time to time be assigned by the Supervisor.
