We are looking for a **full-time Property Assessment & Zoning Specialist **to join our team on a 3-month contract with the possibility of moving into a permanent role

As a **Property Assessment & Zoning Specialist,** you’ll be an essential part of our project team, responsible for conducting on-site assessments, collecting data, and creating building plans for backyard homes (ADUs). You’ll present the information clearly to our team, using software tools to generate final outputs including a site assessment report and permit submission.

**Your Key Accountabilities**

As a Property Assessment & Zoning Specialist, your contribution to the team will include:

- Researching properties and site specific conditions from various data sources (i.e. zoning bylaws, conservation authorities, land use regulations, etc.);
- Conducting on-site assessments to capture existing site conditions (hydro, water, sewer, etc.) through various technologies;
- Creating site plans for backyard homes (ADUs) and preparing Site Assessment Reports for internal teams and customers;
- Ensuring that the provincial Ontario Building Code (OBC) and local regulations are accurately reflected in all reports and site plans;
- Providing support for the collection and tracking of various data points for On-Site Assessments and the Site Assessment Reports (for internal analysis);
- Supporting the broader project team, contributing to the overall success of backyard home projects.

**Your Skills & Qualifications**
- 3-5 years experience in the **construction industry**, or similar;
- 1-3 years of in-field experience;
- Degree or diploma in **Construction Management**, **Construction Engineering Technology** or a related field;
- Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) qualification and registry is an asset, or the willingness to obtain the qualification is mandatory;
- Proven knowledge of the **Ontario Building Code** (OBC) and **Municipal Zoning Bylaws** across Canada;
- A demonstrated passion for housing construction and housing issues in Canada;
- Proven ability to work with a team (in-person & remote);
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to build strong relationships;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to understand customer issues, and the ability to articulate technical information to customers in simple terms;
- Creative problem-solving skills to diagnose problems and solve issues for on-site property assessments;
- Attention to detail to spot issues and complete accurate reports about the repairs.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
