Dietary Manager/chef

**Overview**
**This position will require 75% of you time cooking and 25% of your time working on administrative functions.**
**Duties**:
- Manage the daily operations of the kitchen and dining areas
- Coordinate and supervise food preparation, ensuring compliance with dietary requirements
- Oversee food safety protocols, including proper handling and storage of food items
- Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and where necessary discharge kitchen staff
- Ensure all cook staff are fully trained on cooking techniques, food presentation, and portion control
- Manage both front of house and back of house staff
- Develop seasonal menus that meet nutritional guidelines and resident preferences working on a 5 week rotation
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed and negotiate with suppliers to receive top quality food items at a reasonable cost
- Monitor food costs according to business needs and budget requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining room environment
- Complete audits, resident interviews, etc. as per the Retirement Home Regulatory Authority mandate
- Ensure food sampling, food temps, sanitization, etc. are up to standards for Public Health and Safety, the Retirement Home Regulatory Authority and St. Charles Villages' standards
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in food service, cooking, or kitchen management
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Strong supervisory skills to lead and motivate kitchen staff
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents, staff, and vendors
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week
