MacEwan University is seeking an experienced individual for an Associate Vice-President, Information Services and CIO for a full-time continuing opportunity with the IT Services department.

At MacEwan University, the role of the Associate Vice-President, Information Services and CIO is not about technology itself; rather, it is about providing the leadership and facilitation needed to achieve strategic goals through effective management of its information resources and services using technology.

Key responsibilities include:

- The incumbent fosters, through a structured and disciplined framework, a collaborative planning environment that manages competing demands and disparate jurisdictions.
- As a member of the senior administration team, the incumbent advises the University on acquiring, managing, and securing information and technology solutions and oversees the management of technology services.
- The incumbent is responsible for the Human Resource capacity of Information and Technology Services; this includes the review and alignment of departmental structures; staff complement levels and the analysis of skill requirements and gaps. To support this, the incumbent needs to ensure appropriate recruitment, training and development, and performance evaluation of staff.
- The incumbent leads the financial planning and allocation of resources for the development and sustainment of information and technology services.
- Ensures that protocols and procedures are developed to ensure security of the university's information assets.
- Oversees development of IT continuity plans based on the enterprise IT continuity framework, to reduce the impact of a major disruption on key business functions and processes.
- Provides executive leadership in the development and implementation of an information services and technology governance framework. Establishes an organizational and governance structure to deliver on the vision and IT strategy.
- Leads strategic and tactical planning, development of business cases, and development, implementation and evaluation of the information and technology systems for MacEwan University.
- Works to further the vision for distributed education and alternative forms of instructional delivery by collaborating with the Provost and Executive Vice President Academic, the Deans, faculty, and relevant support areas to implement and sustain a support and delivery model.
- Provides leadership at the provincial level in developing and deploying technology solutions to support the development of shared services, reduced costs, and improved system availability.
