THE OPPORTUNITY

The Atlantic Region Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (ARAISA)is seeking a Research Lead to join its growing team. Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Services, the Research Lead engages in data collection and knowledge mobilization to help support and represent the sector and works closely with the ARAISA team to identify and prioritize key areas of research and changes in policy that affect service delivery and disseminate the knowledge in a synthesized way for Service Providers.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

ARAISA is a non-profit umbrella association that serves as a collective voice and forum for its members who are committed to the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees in the Atlantic Region. ARAISA works to increase the effectiveness of its members through its initiatives to support the sector and its contributions to regional and national forums. ARAISA provides professional development and networking opportunities, facilitates information and resource exchange, hosts sector-specific working groups, convenes meetings with key stakeholders, and represents its members through national bodies, with the goal of having a positive impact on settlement and integration policies and practices.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Lead the design and delivery of research projects relevant to the settlement and integration sector and synthesize results and data.
- Work collaboratively to advance strategic research and policy initiatives that build the capacity of the Atlantic settlement and integration sector.
- Contribute to the development and analysis of sector surveys to identify needs and priorities.
- Guide, train, and advise staff, consultants, and interns on research techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Monitor policy and programming themes and trends as they pertain to immigration, settlement, and integration in the Atlantic region and the broader national context.
- Work collaboratively with the ARAISA team to integrate research and policy evidence into ARAISA programs.
- Develop information dissemination tools for members to access, understand, and use relevant research to support better outcomes for newcomers.
- Coordinate with ARAISA’s Communications team to provide the settlement sector with current research and reliable information in accessible and engaging formats.
- Assist in knowledge mobilization of other relevant research, with a focus on promising practices.
- Work to expand relationships with academics focused on settlement and integration research that aligns with member interests and needs.
- Contribute to and develop reports and position papers to reflect regional perspectives and assist in informing policy development.
- Identify and work with external vendors, consultants, and other providers as required.
- Ensure accurate communication occurs in both official languages, including translation of texts and simultaneous interpretation during meetings, where required.
- Contribute to a positive team environment where diversity, trust, learning, and well-being are valued.
- The Research Lead is also responsible for:

- Providing support to ARAISA’s programs and operations as required
- Representing ARAISA at events or external meetings, when requested
- Other duties or projects as assigned.

**POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES**
- Masters’ degree(s) in a relevant field(s)
- 2+ years of experience with research projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of the settlement and integration sector, particularly in the Atlantic Canadian context
- Advanced writing skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely (Bilingual EN/FR an asset)
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Advanced level of computer proficiency (MS Office) and knowledge of research-related software and analytic programs
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in or with the not-for-profit sector and/or the immigrant and refugee settlement sector is considered an asset

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- ARAISA staff work in a hybrid environment which includes a minimum of 2 days per week in the ARAISA office, with additional regular all-staff in-person meetings in accordance with our HR Policy Manual that can be updated periodically.
- Travel within the Atlantic Region may be occasionally required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position (35 hours/week) starting as soon as possible. For this position, the annual salary is $56,806 and includes:
