GENERAL DUTIES

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Prepares or contributes to work plans including time/effort estimates for assigned project tasks or maintenance activities.

Prepares development and implementation work plans and manages time and processes to achieve stated goals, deliverables and timelines.

Leads development and implementation initiatives based on project plans.

Analyzes data requirements, designs logical and physical data models.

Designs, develops, and executes system test plans including development of test cases and test scripts in collaboration with the Business Process Analyst.

Develops, manages, and reports on functional design and development activities of assigned work.

Supports the development and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans.

Prepares documentation of issues/problems and provides feedback including identification of potential resolutions.

May be required to provide on-call support to users.

May be assigned to an initiative or project requiring the individual to take direction from other Managers, Supervisors and/or Project Managers.

Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.

Performs other duties as assigned, which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated programmer/analyst experience supporting AMANDA software developed by CSDC (Granicus) and working knowledge of Planning, Permitting, and Licensing modules. Preferably experience with version 7 or higher.

Advanced working knowledge of relational databases including Oracle Databases and Microsoft SQL Server databases. Demonstrated ability to to write, interpret and modify complex queries, functions, stored procedures, and triggers using PL/SQL or Transact-SQL.

Knowledge of relevant Business Intelligence and reporting software such as Microsoft Power BI, YellowFin, and Crystal Reports.

Experience with Apache Tomcat, Avolve ProjectDox, and Power platform would be an asset.

General knowledge of Ontario Building Code and activities related to municipal Planning and Development activities would be an asset.

Ability to translate business requirements into design, functional and technical specifications.

Knowledge of fundamental ITIL standards.

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to make sound and logical judgments.

Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
