**GENERAL FUNCTION**:
The Team Lead I, Engineering role is a technical position with the Edmonton Operations team. They are responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and leadership of the Edmonton Engineering Team in conjunction with the Team Lead II, Engineering

Supervises a small team, allocates work, and sets goals and objectives for team members for the achievement of operational results. Ensures policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports. Sets goals and objectives for team members and team for the achievement of operational results. The individual can work independently with work direction and general supervision from their manager.

This position provides authentication of projects of low to medium complexity and can be performed with little support. Due to their technical knowledge, they may be able to coach and review the work of lower-level professionals within their job area by explaining facts, policies, and practices.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Operations, Planning, and Administration**:

- Achieves engineering operational objectives by contributing engineering information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing productivity, quality, and customer standards; resolving issues; completing audits; and identifying trends and improvements.
- Coordinates engineering work requests in conjunction with the Team Lead II, Engineering to ensure project and client schedules and expectations are met.
- Generates and reviews detailed technical reports, detailed design drawings, and other required materials based upon client technical specifications, NACE standards and company-established guidelines.
- Utilizes engineering principles and corrosion theory to provide installation, commissioning, and maintenance direction for AC mitigation and cathodic protection systems in the form of test plans and remote technical assistance for staff.
- Updates job knowledge by remaining current on codes, standards, and requirements; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.

**Staffing / Personnel**
- Accomplishes engineering human resource objectives by orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and counseling employees; communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; and monitoring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Supervise a team of professional engineers, EITs, and technologists. Approve timesheets and expenses for direct reports, and others as required.
- Support the Team Lead II, Engineering in leading the Engineering Team with the supplied personnel to meet project requirements, performance levels, and budgets.
- In tandem with the Team Lead II, Engineering, provide each member of the Engineering Team with direction in their specific functions and how they relate with other Team members and the success of the Team overall.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Accredited College or University graduate
- **Minimum of 4 years experience in cathodic protection / AC mitigation**:

- **Previous supervisory experience would be an asset**:

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills are required
- Strong organization and leadership skills
- **NACE CP 2 Technician designation or higher**
