**JOB SUMMARY & PURPOSE**
We are currently seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. This is a full-time, hourly position working four days per week (10 hours per day - Monday to Thursday).
Reporting directly to the Shelter & Spay/Neuter Clinic Veterinarian, the Veterinary Technician will work with and assist a small surgery team led by our Veterinarian to support the Society’s Spay/Neuter program and provide Shelter Medicine to animals in care, when necessary. The Veterinary Technician will provide comprehensive preventive medicine services, including spay/neuter preparation and recovery/vaccination/micro-chips/anti-parasitic treatments and general out-patient medical & surgical services. Client Services and Humane Education is also a key component of the Veterinary Technician, providing intake and discharge services for Clinic patients and Education to Pet Parents.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Client Services include but are not limited to**:
- Providing quality service to clients, volunteers, and staff
- Providing in-person and telephone services to clients and answer inquiries
- Actively promoting spay/neuter and educating clients on responsible animal ownership
- Representing the clinic in a professional and courteous manner at all times
**The Patient Care duties of the Veterinary Technician are as follows**:
- Provide excellent patient care
- Assist veterinarians in surgery as needed
- Stay current in knowledge of emergency drugs and protocols
- Administer animal vaccinations, tests, medications and treatments as directed
- Induce anesthesia and monitor patients during surgery and recovery time
- Assess animals prior to sedation for surgery
- Other duties as assigned General Duties
**The general duties of the Veterinary Technician are as follows**:
- Perform daily cleaning of kennels and cages
- Spot clean throughout the day
- Clean prep room and operating room at the end of the day
- Wash and sterilize all surgical packs throughout the day
- Ensure equipment maintenance
**SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE**
**Salary**: $45,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
