Maintenance Technician

Hallmark is a Halifax based dental lab serving dental clinics and their patients in Atlantic Canada. We need a capable, experienced, tech-savvy maintenance technician to manage our building facilities. You will be responsible for overall maintenance and repairs to the building and its utilities and amenities. As the maintenance technician in charge of the building, you will carry out routine and regular inspections to identify possible failures, carry out preventive maintenance, carry out quality checks, and schedule repairs.
**Maintenance Technician Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Perform preventative maintenance work to avoid possible failures and malfunctions
- Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written descriptions, and oral instructions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot repair and maintenance requests including repairing dry wall, machines, equipment, building surfaces, replacing light bulbs, etc., as necessary.
- Handle emergency maintenances and repairs.
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to be in safe, clean, and good working conditions.
- Work with the Inventory Analyst to stock adequate maintenance materials and equipment to avoid shortages and excesses.
- Maintain complete records of daily maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals.
- Adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
- Be aware of rules and regulations governing building maintenance, fire, and utilities and ensure safety
- Carry out a routine inspection of building and equipment to identify any developing issues and notify owners.
- Repair structures and equipment types, engage specialists as needed, and contract labor for that purpose.
- Inspect for end-of-life equipment condition and plan for new purchases
- Potentially fill in as a Hallmark driver to cover sick days and vacation
- Perform other related duties and activities as required.
**Maintenance Technician Requirements**:
- Minimum 3 years of experience performing routine maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds
- Good command of the English language, communication, and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good with technology
- Strong attention to detail
- Good knowledge of building maintenance, HVAC systems, small equipment repairs, carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical systems
- Skilled use of hand and electrical tools
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
- Professional presentation and attitude.
- Valid driver’s license
