Greely, Canada Marathon Underground Constructors Corporation Full time

**Marathon Underground Constructors Corporation **is currently seeking a full-time Estimator to join our team in Ottawa.

Marathon Underground specializes in shoring, deep foundations, tunneling, trenchless technologies, and a wide variety of heavy civil works, including services to the mining industry.

This position would be responsible for evaluating tender documents, specifications, and drawings, completing take-offs, communicating with suppliers and subcontractors, and preparing the bid for final review.

This position is in Greely, Ontario, in the southern part of Ottawa. Our office in not easily accessible via public transportation. Reliable personal transportation, a G license and clean drivers abstract are required.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responsible for aiding in the preparation and submission of pre-qualifications and estimates.
- Review tender documents, plans, specifications, and project sites to clearly understand the scope of work to be priced.
- Work alongside our internal engineering department to find potential cost savings through value engineering and communicate the solution with the client.
- Communicating with the operations team, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.
- Soliciting vendors and subcontractors for estimates.
- Supporting change order pricing as required.
- Resolving cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Negotiating final contract values.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with subcontractors, construction personnel, supervisors, and the estimating team.

**Required Skills & Qualifications**
- Previous estimating experience in the heavy civil construction industry is considered an asset.
- Excellent technical skills.
- Ability to complete detailed takeoffs with a high level of accuracy.
- Graduate of a university degree program or Civil Engineering Technologist program.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Proven success working with vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors.
- Proficiency with MS-Office, MS-Project, AutoCAD, and a thorough understanding of estimating software (experience with B2W would be considered an asset).
- Proficient in scheduling and capable of producing tender schedules.
