**PURCHASING AGENT**
- If you’re a proven purchasing leader who combines a results-driven approach to production results, cost reductions and process improvements with the vision to identify and implement strategic changes. You should be able to demonstrate success in negotiations with suppliers to ensure product cost efficiencies and achieve inventory management goals, ensuring no -stock outs or production delays, the role of Purchasing Agent could be your ideal opportunity. You will develop purchasing strategies that reduce costs by purchasing from a wider range of vendors across North America. You will have created opportunities to manage the inventory more effectively in multiple locations and provide insight and recommendations on the best business processes to manage and produce inventory for 2 locations. **This is a Hands-on Role that requires you to be in the office**. Experienced purchaser with diverse worldwide purchasing exposure that is aware of all logístical challenges with goods receipt, that can resolve problems on the fly. You will be able to build strong and collaborative relationships as you work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production and Finance teams.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience. CPM or APICS certification is helpful but not required. 5 - 10 years of experience in Supply Chain or Purchasing Management in a **Metal Manufacturing** **Environment **with demonstrated experience in cost reduction. Fluent in Microsoft O-365; knowledge of Visual Manufacturing is preferred, but should be familiar with use of ERP systems. Expertise in the use of Excel is required. Leadership experience with good coaching capability on obtaining results through others. Proven history developing and implementing inventory management and control processes and procedures. Superb communication skills for dealing and negotiating with vendors/suppliers and capable of developing excellent relationships with same. Demonstrated capability in innovative sourcing and procurement. Demonstrated proficient ability in problem solving, priority setting and resolving urgent issues effectively. Must be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to work effectively in a self-directed work environment.
Hours of Work: M-F 8:00am - 5:00 pm., overtime as required.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for the purchase of goods and services including negotiating delivery timelines, volumes of goods, and prices and timely issuing of purchase orders.
- Locate and source materials, equipment and suppliers capable of delivering goods and services that meet the Company’s requirements.
- Complete and manage cycle counts of all material/parts inventory on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis and reconcile counts with ERP inventory levels and ensure inventory adjustments are made to ensure financial reporting is adequate.
- Negotiate as required to attain competitive pricing and terms for goods and services or find work-arounds to find alternate ways to create the inventory.
- Ensure effective procurement timelines so that production deadlines are met and materials are available in a timely fashion so that no production delays occur.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering and Manufacturing to perform buy vs. make analysis, inclusive of the expenditure of Cap Ex for new equipment to improve productivity.
- Prepare, process and approve requisition and purchase orders.
- Monitor all inventory levels and ensure all cycle counts are completed, inventory adjusted monthly to ensure financial reporting is accurate.
- Review Purchase requisitions in conjunction with stock on hand, counts in inventory system prior to ordering, and engage in corrective action to find out why any discrepancies are occurring and resolve the discrepancies.
- Lead the review and correction of Engineering masters to ensure all stock is being drawn against the inventory; liaise with Finance to ensure accurate inventory counts.
- Work collaboratively with the Production and Finance groups to analyze supply, demand, lead times and create inventory stocking plans to meet market lead time requirements.
- Manage supplier performance to ensure high quality, on-time and cost effective supply of goods and services.
- Ensure critical deliveries are expedited and find work arounds when needed to ensure materials are on hand when required.
- Maintain purchasing information in the ERP system; ensure complete and accurate record keeping/documentation of all goods and services ordered and received. Resolve all inventory draw down of materials issues by working with Engineering to correct Bill of Materials and Engineering Masters.
