Position Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:

- Supporting the overall strategic plans and annual objectives for the MMF career development
- Developing, updating, facilitating and administering the Masters career planning programs (workshops, job fairs and training materials offered throughout the academic year, e.g. resume design, cover letter writing, networking, personal branding and on-line presence, interview skills, campus recruiting preparation, etc.), taking into account market trends and employer demands. Providing recommendations or content on new professional development material (internally and/or externally through external vendors search)
- Providing individualized strategic consultation and coaching to an assigned group of current and former MMF students (within 3 years of graduation) to support their career planning and skills development, including the administration of career assessment tools, preparation for on-campus recruiting and self-directed job search
- Helping to maintain a global overview of the MMF related Career Services programming, collaborating with Master’s Program and Academic Directors to integrate and schedule offerings that meet market demands and ensure the highest degree of client satisfaction among students
- Reporting on program successes and challenges: conduct ongoing evaluation of evolving market trends, competitive intelligence, as well as changes in student needs and expectations per program
- Working closely with the stream specialist/industry liaisons
- Collaborating with other members of Career Services to prepare and coordinate technical stream preparation for MMF students as well as networking activities that convene corporate partners with students/staff
- Ensuring or providing recommendations to align service offerings consistently across Master’s programs in close collaboration with the other Master’s Career Coaches; offering ad-hoc support across programs when required
- Representing Career Services at internal and/or external meetings when necessary
- Collaborating with Faculty-based Communications and McGill University Advancement teams to produce marketing and communications materials for Desautels; and contributing, when requested, to produce Career Services-related material for Faculty marketing and fundraising objectives as well as annual reporting and ad hoc internal and/or external requests for information
- Updating and maintaining the 12Twenty database to ensure the availability of complete, accurate, confidential and timely placement information for ranking purposes.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Five to ten (5-10) years’ work experience in a professional North American setting, preferably in a coaching or advisory role with a strong client orientation. Strong professional demeanor, trustworthiness and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion. Excellent communication skills ( English : written and spoken) French ( spoken) with strong attention to detail. Exceptional emotional intelligence and relationship building skills; ability to engage with and adapt to an international and diverse clientele. Deep understanding of the recruitment process in Canada. Strong sense of cultural diversity; ability to help students from various international markets to navigate the Canadian job market. Strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative; a willingness to “go the extra mile” in delivery of an outstanding customer experience; willingness to work flexible hours, particularly between August and December. Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Coaching certification (or similar) is an asset. In-depth knowledge of specific functional areas or industries is an asset. Ability to work both in teams and autonomously, well-organized; solid administrative skills to facilitate tracking and sharing of up-to-date information with colleagues in support of students. Good knowledge of MS Office (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel). Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
