Support Staff - Full-time Temporary Appendix D Contract

Support Staff Full-time Appendix D Contract Replacement Position (Immediate - August 30, 2024)

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

The incumbent is a customer service professional providing comprehensive frontline services and support to students and faculty out of our libraries, mainly at the Doon campus.

**Responsibilities**:
**Information & Research**
- References Services for Conestoga students, faculty, staff, and the community which involves interviewing, interpreting requirements, and establishing the level and detail of information needed
- Guides users in the inquiry and research process including, the provision of virtual (online) reference services
- Uses the integrated library system loans materials and maintains/updates accounts and books media and technology

**Circulation Services**
- Uses the integrated library system loans materials and maintains/updates accounts and books media and technology

**Technology Support**
- Offers technology assistance as part of TeachMeTech and Tech Bar services, including access issues, hardware, and software troubleshooting
- Provides training to students on productivity tools such as Microsoft Office or other College support software
- Offers basic support on assistive technology and refers to the Learning Technology Liaison where appropriate

**Student Success**
- Provides a range of academic support services which may include offering guidance and utilizing available resources for: citing & referencing, the academic integrity process, technology, and digital skills
- Offers informed referral to other College services including assistance navigating resources (websites) and booking appointments

**Library Services Activities, Committee Work & Projects as Assigned**
- Engages in activities to support library services based on availability of projects, incumbent’s interest, and aptitude

Qualifications:

- Two-Year Diploma in Library Education is required
- Two years of customer service experience in a library, retail, or other frontline hospitality setting experience including:

- Traditional reference and circulation services
- Technology support
- Circulation services
- Academic integrity, referencing, and citation support
- Experience working with students who face learning barriers including students with learning disabilities is preferred
- Experience assisting students with learning strategies to maximize their potential would be an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of learning styles and ability to adjust the instructional style to individual learning styles
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Dedication to customer service
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-analysis and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple demands, and changing priorities
