VanDriel Excavating is a leading contractor in Excavation and Civil construction, dedicated to Quality, Excellence, and Teamwork. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as our Heavy Equipment Shop Manager. This position plays a crucial role in the company’s success in heavy civil and bridge construction on municipal and commercial projects.
- Plan and adjust workloads of technicians to match their skills and abilities.
- Monitor and track stock levels, maintaining above-minimum stock levels of all items and supplies.
- Prepare cost estimates, including service time.
- Maintain daily records of repairs and services to vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure yearly service requirements for the fleet are met.
- Assist and complete daily repairs.
- Supervise employees to ensure efficient job performance and timely repairs.
- Oversee the procurement of vehicle parts, equipment, and various items required for repairs.
- Review repair orders and inspect the quality of repairs before releasing vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials in the workshop.
- Negotiate, interact, and manage relationships with parts vendors.
- Responsible for job allocation, job flow, job scheduling, and employee allocation for day-to-day operations.
- Prioritize work and manage time effectively to meet demands and management needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Monitor and manage shop workflow to ensure timely delivery of vehicles or equipment as per promised times.
- Oversee the disposal of wastes such as used engine oil to ensure adherence to health and safety laws.
- Help set up shop Key Performance Indicators to monitor the teams performance and measure/compare/react throughout the year.

**Requirements**:

- Dependable work attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Experience in the construction industry with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety-minded with adherence to ethical work habits.
- Good attitude and willingness to follow directions.
- Must be able to work full time weekly hours, occasionally including Saturdays as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions; use of PPE required.
- Able and willing to pick up the tools and turn wrenches when required.
- Heavy Equipment Mechanic license considered an asset.
- Minimum 4 years of mechanic experience.
- Fabrication skills & welding considered a strong asset.

**Salary Compensation is based on Set Salary and Bonus Schedule based off Performance**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $70,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
