Data Analyst, Drug Programs

Position summary
Reporting to the manager, drug programs, and in accordance with College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) policies and procedures, the data analyst manages all program data and is responsible for using advanced qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze internal process data and external program data from several databases. This includes but is not limited to regular data quality monitoring, preparing data for analysis and generating regular and ad hoc reports for the Prescription Review Program (PRP) and other departments at CPSBC.
Duties and responsibilities
**Duties include but are not limited to the following**:
- supports all data requests received from within drug programs and other CPSBC departments by performing the following tasks:
- reviewing, extracting and cleaning of data,
- manipulating and merging data,
- analyzing data, and
- preparing data summaries
- manages department data input, analyzes data, prepares summaries and visuals, creates reports and presentations concerning physician prescribing
- undertakes and oversees the maintenance of records and reports
- provides data management and analysis for assigned projects and strategic planning including KPI tracking and reporting
- maintains data integrity by completing control checks such as bi-annual therapeutic class audits
- creates and implements processes related to the Prescription Review Program (PRP)
- annotates and analyzes practitioner prescription profiles (PPP) for medical consultant review
- generates data charts and graphs as required
- supports investigation queries as requested by the drug programs manager, deputy registrar or medical consultants
- completes the department’s user acceptance testing when updates or new data and reporting technologies are required and manages department rollout
- collaborates with various partners and interested parties at local and provincial level to obtain and provide necessary information, ensure data quality
- responsible for adding, removing and maintaining all prescribing restrictions placed on physicians by CPSBC in the PharmaNet system
- performs any other related duties and participates in special projects as required to support drug programs and CPSBC
- advises on pharmacy and drug related enquiries received by the department
- takes measures to protect all data and information sources to comply with CPSBC’s privacy policy and procedures
Skills and qualifications
**Required skills and qualifications include**:
- successful completion of a bachelor’s degree, preferably with an emphasis in statistics, computer science, science, or another field supplemented by a certificate/diploma/degree specializing in related technologies
- three or more years of experience as a data/information and/or reporting analyst managing and controlling data
- three or more years in health care or a strong understanding of pharmacy language and drug knowledge is required
- excellent quantitative, analytical, problem-solving and investigative skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- detail oriented with strong organization skills to handle multiple concurrent tasks and meet project deadlines
- self-motivated with ability to prioritize and independently execute assigned work as well as ability to collaborate and work within a team
The compensation range for this position is $69,521 to $86,901 per year.
