The Advisor plans, coordinates, develops, and manages programs and projects designed to improve and expand postal services between Canada and member countries of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Advocates for Canada’s postal interests internationally through monitoring and advising on trends in international postal relations, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and acting as official corporate representative at various international postal organizations.

**Responsibilities**:
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Advisor, International Relations.

1. Represents Canada and Canada Post within various international organizations including intergovernmental, multilateral and bilateral associations. Liaises and manages the relationships with a broad network of international contacts including senior government officials, postal operators, international organizations, industrial and strategic partners to advance Canada’s and Canada Post’s interests.

2. Accountable for all aspects of programs and projects regarding postal services between Canada and member countries of the Universal Postal Union.

3. Participates in the negotiation, analysis, evaluation, and execution of bilateral and multilateral agreements.

4. Manages relationships with postal partners in assigned regions to facilitate Canada Post’s business activities with partners and drive market growth.

5. Monitors a broad range of international postal policy, regulatory and governance issues, market trends and drivers, and provides expert advice to CPC executives on interpretations of international agreements and arrangements.

6. Advocates and promotes the strategic interests of Canada Post within various international forums, through active participation in the work of various UPU committees, work groups, task forces and other international organizations. Maintains a strong, effective network of influential contacts for purposes of lobbying member support on key matters.

7. Provides expert advice to key internal stakeholders on international postal policy and market developments. Manages all internal communications with cross-functional stakeholders in assigned topical areas to ensure Canada Post in-country commitments for the UPU joint work groups are met according to established schedules.

8. Supports senior management in executing their responsibilities by preparing briefings and coordinating cross-functional execution of activities.

9. Participates in the International Relations strategy and planning process and provides input and insight on trends in international postal governance, regulatory and policy issues, as well as latest market developments in selected international regions.

10. In collaboration with key stakeholders, provides focus for the integration of strategies and activities including international product offerings, financial analysis, customer service, legal and operational elements, in order to advance Canada Post’s international priorities and objectives.

11. Conducts business in a manner that reflects Corporate Values and Leadership Behavior’s and Habits. Fosters meaningful relationships, founded in trust, respect and mutual understanding aligned with corporate strategies, international postal interests and commitments.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Master’s degree and above in a related field (business administration, international business, international relations, or finance) from a recognized post-secondary institution OR equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

**Experience**
- 3 to 5 years of related experience, primarily in International Relations, International Business, Logistics, Product, Marketing, Finance, or regulatory environments.
- Past work experience in preparing business cases, presentations, and briefings for executive review and decision-making purposes.
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing relations to influence outcomes in support of corporate strategies and objectives.
- Experience managing projects, as well as representing and communicating positions on behalf of others.
- Experience working in the CEP (Courier, Express and Parcel) industry.
- Experience working in a commercial, political, and/or multi-cultural capacity. Direct working experience with partners in the Asia Pacific region would be an asset.
- Strong written and spoken communication in English.
- Fluency in a major language spoken in the Asia Pacific region would be considered a str
