**Position Title: LINC Instructor, Linguistic Equity Living Lab**

**Reports to**: Community Innovation Manager

**Contract Dates**: April 2023 - March 2024

**Summary**

The LINC Instructor, Linguistic Equity Living Lab will work collaboratively to develop or tailor, vet, and deliver curricula for an experimental LINC course designed on decolonized & anti
- racist teaching approaches. The objective - to increase immigrants’ English language skills, their confidence to use skills acquired through English language learning curriculum, tools, and resources, and deepen their connection to communities. Classes will be delivered in a hybrid model (in-person and virtual) for approximately 12 hours per week. The Instructor will also coordinate between the team and learners to incorporate feedback into the curriculum on an ongoing basis, along with organizing and delivering community dialogues.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Design modules, daily lesson plans with attention to learning goals, success criteria, and differentiated learning activities suitable for blended and classroom delivery; develop content, assessments, practice materials, and resources.
- Instruct English as an Additional Language for experimental LINC program, while conducting ongoing needs assessments with learners and assisting them in setting learning goals.
- Design assessments for ongoing evaluation of learners’ progress based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA guidelines.
- Prepare learners’ conference summary and progress reports. Conduct one-on-one interviews with learners to provide feedback on learning progress.
- Ensure classes are guided through a multi-sectoral, anti-oppression lens and centres decolonized approaches.
- Provide computer-assisted instruction using language learning software, Zoom, Moodle, and MS Office programs; integrate online resources and e-learning delivery tools, such as LearnIT2Teach in language instruction.
- Seek support and find solutions to facilitate the smooth delivery of classroom instruction and administrative functions; maintain attendance records and other documentation.
- Work collaboratively with the Community Innovation Manager and consultant to make adjustments and improvements to course materials and on the creation of an educational video for documentation and distribution.
- Coordinate, host, and facilitate targeted community engagement activities, including dialogues and surveys utilizing a range of interactive virtual (and potentially in-person) tools and approaches.
- Support the communication flow between students, volunteers, and Impact North Shore operational support staff.
- Direct Client Service: Provide direct settlement services and referrals to clients, as needed, paying special attention to clients expressing distress and trauma.

**Qualifications**:

- TESOL or CELTA certificate from an accredited institution recognized by TESOL Canada
- Minimum 1- 3 years of experience teaching LINC programming.
- Experience in teaching or knowledge of anti-racist and decolonized approaches to instruction.
