**Purpose of Position**

The Marketing and Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the development, management and implementation of the Museum’s marketing plans and initiatives and providing oversight of the Museum’s social media channels to drive visitor attendance and virtual engagement.

Working with the Director and the Studio Manager of the department, the Marketing and Communications Officer will support the conceptualization and implementation of a variety of tactics to meet specific annual departmental goals and targets and lead the development and deployment of social media content.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist the Director in the development, implementation and evaluation of an institutional marketing strategy and plan that integrates all Museum programs and products.
- Develop and implement effective marketing strategies for internal departments (Exhibitions, Performing Arts, Education, Shop, and Diwan) to support attendance and brand awareness goals and contribute to the Museum’s positive organizational profile.
- Collaborate on integrated communications campaigns that support cross-functional initiatives and deliver maximum impact and alignment on the dissemination of communications.
- Brainstorm ideas for new campaigns in collaboration with the Marcom team.
- Develop, implement, and manage (independently and with Museum departments) the Museum’s social media strategy including editorial calendars and tactical plans that integrate with Museum-wide activities and campaigns.
- Research, develop, write (ensuring writing is clear, compelling, and grammatically correct), design, schedule, and post content for social media channels (in collaboration with key internal stakeholders).
- Provide daily oversight (monitoring and moderating) of the Museum’s social media accounts including, but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Manage (directly or with agency partners) all social media KPIs, paid campaigns, advertisingvspend and creative and copy development.
- Ensure that all social media messages and content are relevant to the target audience and aligned with brand objectives, while identifying new and relevant ways to keep audiences engaged.
- Develop and implement social media best practices for accessibility.
- Monitor and moderate review sites (Trip Advisor, Google, etc.) and the Museum’s marketing inbox; escalate and resolve issues as they arise.
- Oversee marketing of the Museum’s digital products including a podcast and digital subscription offering to generate awareness and revenue growth.
- Review the Museum’s digital programming to ensure accuracy and alignment with brand guidelines.
- Support various ongoing research projects to understand visitors’ and non-visitors' ongoing motivations, barriers to entry, demographics, information source, etc.
- Work with the Marcom Studio Manager, Designer and Writer and Editor to ensure marketing materials are engaging and accurate (including assessing overall aesthetics and reviewing copy for accuracy).
- Develop and upload web page content (including writing copy and selecting imagery).
- Update senior leadership on the progress of marketing activities and report on the results of campaigns.
- Support the Director in preparing reports for the Board and Executive Committee.
- Engage in partner outreach for upcoming Museum programming, including local and international event listings, distributing marketing assets to relevant stakeholders, following up with partners on cross-promotional opportunities, and identifying key communities that align with Museum objectives.
- Manage institutional reciprocal memberships, programs, and benefits, participating in monthly meetings and exploring partnership opportunities with participating institutions.
- Ensure media and public queries are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
- Keep abreast of current marketing, advertising, social media, and digital trends.
- Actively engage in a minimum of one Signature Initiative (SI) team.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Minimum university undergraduate degree in marketing, advertising, or communications.
- Minimum five years of related experience in marketing/agency or arts/non-profit environment.
- Demonstrated experience creating and deploying marketing campaigns and overseeing social media channels including reporting, interpreting analytics, driving insight-based performance and communicating results.
- In-depth understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels.
- Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other emerging platforms as well as social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout, and Falcon.
- Good design sensibility (including imagery, font and colour) as it relates to social and digital media (knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Photoshop/InDesign is an asset).
