**About Us**:
The mandate of the Student Experience portfolio is to encourage student engagement, support student success, and to enhance overall student life at Western. Student Experience encompasses Indigenous Services, Entrepreneurship Centre (Propel), Sports and Recreation, Student Development Centre, Student Success Centre, and the Wellness Education Centre, which operate together to create an environment in which students can thrive and succeed. Student Experience also collaborates closely with the University Students’ Council, Society of Graduate Students, and other departments across campus.

**Responsibilities**:
The Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball will report to the Head Coach, Women’s Basketball, and will work in collaboration with staff in Sports & Recreation Services, to provide valuable sports-related experiences to student-athletes in a setting that strives for excellence in athletics and education. The role will work in collaboration with the Head Coach to provide the leadership and development of a women’s basketball program and will represent Western at interuniversity competitions.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Undergraduate Degree with a major in Kinesiology, Sport Management, Athletics, Recreation or related field
- Have or working towards NCCP Learn to Train Certification
- Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in a coaching role of an elite basketball program
- Experience in a University Sports Program would be an asset
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of technical and tactical elements of basketball
- Knowledge of USport and OUA Rules and Regulations
- Demonstrated understanding of EDI practices
- Strong background and expertise in athletics & recreation
- Exceptional organizational and coordinating skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Possesses high levels of integrity with a track record as a proven role model with peers, athletes and coaches
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- A continuous quality improvement approach to evaluation and program development
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with various groups of people
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop shared vision to lead student athletes and support staff to excellence
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Intermediate computer skills; skills with Synergy software an asset
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team
