**About Us**:
The Sports and Recreation unit includes an intercollegiate athletics program recognized for excellence, and is comprised of 48 varsity teams and competitive clubs that compete at the national and/or provincial levels. Campus Recreation employs over 400 students annually to deliver intramural, fitness, and instructional programs to more than 25,000 members and is a recognized leader within higher education. The Sports and Recreation programs have a long and well-earned reputation for excellence and play a major role in advancing our institution’s strategic priorities.

**Responsibilities**:
The Assistant Coach, Football will report to the Director, Sport, and will work in collaboration with the Head Coach, Football and staff in Sports & Recreation Services, to provide valuable sports-related experiences to student-athletes in a setting that strives for excellence in athletics and education. The role will be responsible for the support and planning of a football sports program and will represent Western at all football events, recruiting trips and other initiatives as outlined in the team planning process.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate Degree in Kinesiology, Sport Management, Athletics or Recreation or related field
- NCCP level 3 or higher both technical and practical in Football

**Experience**:

- 5 years experience coaching an elite football program, with significant administrative experience in sports and recreation
- Experience in a University Sports Program preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of technical and tactical elements of basketball
- Strong background and expertise in athletics & recreation
- Exceptional organizational and coordinating skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Knowledge of supplies and equipment related to sport development, as well as sport
- specific electronic equipment
- Judgment, analytical and problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
- Possesses high levels of integrity
- Proven role model with peers, athletes and assistant coaches
- Demonstration of strong fiscal management and collaborative leadership to supervise staff in day-to-day operations
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- A continuous quality improvement approach to evaluation and program development
- Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationship at all levels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with various groups of people
- Understanding, knowledge and participation in training and education of various Safe Sport initiatives, modules and certifications as outlined by the Sport department both for themselves, their colleagues and the student-athletes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop shared vision to lead student athletes and support staff to excellence
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team
