Manager, Financial Reporting

The Manager of Financial Reporting will report to the Director of Finance and work closely with another Manager of Financial Reporting. The role will responsible for quarterly public reporting, full-cycle accounting/month-end, and management of a team of 3. The Manager of Financial Reporting will also utilize existing technologies to enhance efficiencies and ensure complete accurate and timely financial reporting.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial and annual financial statements for multiple companies (BPI operating company, CO-OP marketing, and charity Foundation)
- Review and preparation of management reporting and variance analysis
- Review of treasury function and reporting
- Assistance with the preparation of consolidated quarterly financial statements (publically reported)
- Assistance with the preparation of quarterly MD&A (publically reported)
- Key liaison with external auditors
- Review and file GST/HST/PST returns
- Assistance with the preparation of annual tax working paper file and preparation of quarterly tax provision and annual tax filing
- Management of internal control systems and recommended improvements to ensure the continued integrity of the company’s financial information
- Participation with financial system implementations and upgrades
- Management of financial systems including troubleshooting of Accounting system and AP workflow system
- Lead in the enhancement of the following key processes
- Internal management reporting (continuous automation)
- Development of automated system reports to assist with compiling working papers, and financial reports
- Improvements in SAGE financial statement processes/reporting
- Various other projects as required
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Professional accounting designation
- Minimum of five years progressive financial accounting experience
- Public company experience an asset
- Exposure to IFRS an asset
- Computer proficiency with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products an asset
- Experience with SAGE and/or Doclink (accounts payable workflow) an asset
- Strong supervisory, analytical and organizational skills
- An effective communicator who works well in a deadline-driven team-environment
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to successfully multi-task, meet deadlines and respond effectively to changing priorities
- Ability to continually challenge the status quo with respect to business processes and operating results
