Special Projects Supervisor

The Logistics Projects Supervisor will support the new logistics division of DP World as primary point of contact for all items project or special projects related, with a strong focus on out of gauge freight with operational prowess to overcome potential pitfalls, assigning them and concluding issues. Other duties include monitoring supplier performance and ensuring contractual obligations are met and operational support to the entire logistics team.
**Key responsibilities**
- Strategically operate and supervise special freight needs at all ports for BCO’s, freight forwarders, DP World Assets Management and Ports / Terminal
- Negotiate and ensure efficient freight utilization of Project Cargo
- Familiar with Project cargo Logistics Movements and Requirements
- Familiar with Chartering vessels and negotiating efficient project cargo movement.
- Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
- Operate special air freight needs globally.
- Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
- Manage supplier contracts and insure compliance
- Enter clients & prospect BCO’s into CRM
- Liaise with ports, clients, suppliers and transport companies
- Plan work roles, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
- Produce reports and statistics regularly
**Qualifications, Job Function, Technical Knowledge and Skills**
- 10 plus years working within the logistics industry with a strong focus in P rocurement, Freight procedures, Booking and Routing Management Control Tower and Supply Chain Management
- Diploma or certificate from college or university, preferable in international trade, business or finance and 10 plus years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experienced within the marine industry
- Strong customer service skills, proactivity and be a team player
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with clients, carriers, other forwarders, vendors
- Extensive experience working in the procurement department in a related field
- Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions
- Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Meet with suppliers and work overtime as required
- Fluent in English
- Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries
