**Job Overview**
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Emergency Management Officer is responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive emergency management (EM) crisis response plan and supporting the Occupational Health and Safety program for Sipekne’katik membership, community members, and employees.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, implement and monitor the Emergency Management program, including policies, processes, report procedures and standardized forms.
- Plan and organize regular EMO meetings.
- Plan and organize crisis response briefings during a crisis for Sipekne’katik First Nations.
- Enhance community EM capacity in Emergency Management Planning by coordinating staff training events such as Incident Command System 100, 200, 300 and Emergency Response.
- Update EM plans (Departments, All Hazards, Pandemic, Health Emergency, etc.) into an integrated emergency management plan.
- Conduct threat, risk and vulnerability assessments to mitigate risks. This includes performing environmental scans for food security/safety, warming shelters, back-up generators, demographics (address the vulnerable population’s needs).
- Build strong and collaborative partnerships with federal, provincial, municipal, NGO (e.g. Red Cross) and other First Nations Communities.
- Analyze information, make appropriate recommendations and provide advice in preparation of and during an emergency event/crisis, e.g. natural disaster, severe weather, health-related events.
- Attend OH&S meetings, collaborate with the OH&S Officer and provide guidance and support when requested
- Other related EM duties as assigned by Supervisor.

**Qualifications and Experience/Skills**:

- Post secondary education in emergency management or a related field, along with 2 years of related EM/OH&S experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Training in emergency management (e.g. Emergency Operations Centre, Incident Command System and other related EM courses) and willingness to participate in ongoing training
- Ability to prioritize, organize and self-manage
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a First Nations Community is preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle with automobile insurance;
- A criminal records check is required.

Pay: Up to $60,000.00 per year
