**Special Needs Educator**

Phoenix Development Centre is looking for a committed, caring and experienced Special Needs Educator to work with **adolescents **and their families within the GTA. This is a part-time employee position that may lead to a full-time position.

Work hours are available from Monday to Saturday.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION**:
The Special Needs Educator will:

- Facilitate engaging one-to-one learning sessions **(in person) **for adolescents with autism, learning and other developmental disabilities in the clients’ homes and in the community.
- Facilitate caregiver-mediated intervention and parent training.
- Utilize the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to teach daily living, cognitive fucntions, communication, self regulation, and vocational skills.
- Participate in client-related meetings.
- Collect and manage client data under the supervision of the program supervisor.
- Conduct skills assessments.
- Update & maintain clients’ electronic binders.
- Utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication Devices.
- Work independently while being part of a team.
- Have reliable attendance.
- Maintain client confidentiality.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:
**Required**:

- A minimum of **1* **year* experience working with children/adolescents with special needs in clinic, school or home-based settings utilizing the principles of ABA.
- Experience in various data collection systems, managing clients’ learning binders and management of problem behaviours.
- Degree/Diploma in psychology or related field, OR diploma in behavioural sciences
- Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check or the ability to obtain one.

**Rate of Pay: $23-$27.**
