**About Us**:
The Western English Language Centre (WELC) develops and delivers a range of English language programs that support international student success and contribute to the internationalization goals of the university.

**Responsibilities**:
The Boost EAP Instructor works with international students enrolled in WELC’s intensive academic English program being offered both online and in person. Instructors teach students while delivering program content, create lesson plans and prepare teaching materials, administer, and mark tests and other assessments to evaluate and report on students' progress; as well as contribute to the Centre's program and curriculum development. In doing so, Instructors ensure that students are progressing through WELC Boost program to meet the requirements of conditional offers as well as are supporting and preparing students to be successful in university studies. The instructor liaises with academic partners to provide academic simulation opportunities as well as creates and maintains online course materials using Western's learning management system.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Completed or in progress of completing a Master’s degree in Professional Education, Linguistics, Curriculum Studies, or a related field.
- TESL Canada approved TESL certificate (or equivalent) is required.

**Experience**:

- 3 years' ESL/EAP teaching experience
- Experience with learning management system(s)
- Teaching English language classes in an online capacity is an ass

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

- Strong understanding of adult learning and ESL/EAP learning principles and methodology
- Familiarity with learning evaluation methods
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with instructional design methods to deliver instructional programs and courses
- Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated proficiency in academic English communication
- Communication skills to describe concepts effectively to a range of language proficiency levels
- Ability to summarize information and disseminate to others effectively in a timely manner
- Ability to perceive and understand the emotions of others, and interact with them appropriately based on those emotions
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce high-quality work
- Demonstrated ability to coach and support adult learners, and to enable individuals to learn
- Consistently demonstrates initiative in a team environment
