Shot Peening Technician

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Sets up and operates shot-peening equipment according to specifications: Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, work orders, and other documentation to determine layout of specific areas to be shot-peened, sequence of operations, and finish specifications. Create the programs.
- Mounts part on jig, rotary table, or in shot-peening cabinet.
- Sets up, operates, and adjusts shot-peening equipment to achieve specified contour on test specimen or part.
- Measures and checks test specimen or part to verify conformance to specifications and to determine required equipment adjustments, using measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Records data on equipment settings and adjustments, such as feed rate, nozzle angles and oscillation, number and size of nozzles required, shot size, and air or vacuum pressure settings, to be used for subsequent operation and to develop numerical control programming data.
- Perform daily tests to determine size and shape of media and add if necessary.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines and submit maintenance requests for further maintenance work. Observe operation of equipment to detect malfunctions.
- Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma, Technical School or GED preferred

One year minimum related experience and/or training preferred

Ability to Program a 2 Axis Shot Peen Machine

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand written instruction.

REASONING ABILITY

Attention to detail.

Ability to understand and follow simple instruction in standardized situations with little variable.

Ability to assess current techniques to identify opportunities for improvement and more efficient methodology in performance of job function

Frequently required to stand and walk,

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
