**HOURLY RATE**: $27.48

**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**: As part of the Employment Services team, the Counsellor/Facilitator works with approximately 220 job seekers annually to provide individual guidance and longer-term case management. In-person as well as virtually, this position performs assessments, works with clients to increase job search skills and develop individual care plans, makes referrals to internal and external programs and services, supports job retention and coordinates supports.

In 2025, our Employment Services department will take part in the provincial transformation. We are committed to ensuring the success of our program while providing ongoing support to our staff. Together, we continue to prioritize excellent service to our job-seekers, employers and partners, with a focus on Decent Work and holistic support.

**MAJOR DUTIES**:

- Successfully deliver services to achieve funder and agency targets and outcomes, while ensuring excellent, personalized and holistic client service.
- Intake and assess clients to determine skills, education, experience, assets, barriers and levels of motivation.
- Support job seekers to clarify short and long-term employment and training goals by exploring local labour market information and trends, employment, education/ training, apprenticeship and self-employment opportunities and resources.
- Build relationships with clients and develop, maintain and amend personalized Action Plans to support them towards their employment and education goals. Partner with clients and guide them through the job seeking process.
- Make appropriate referrals to supportive services, such as in-house programs and those offered at other community agencies, and assist participants in accessing holistic supports based on their needs.
- Provide guidance on Employment Standards as well as education and government programs and supports.
- Determine the need and suitability for Job Development Services and work collaboratively with the Job Developer Team to meet participant needs and team targets.
- Conduct regular follow-up with clients and provide supports and job retention guidance for 12 months.
- Develop, facilitate (in-person and virtually) and evaluate workshops assisting clients to develop life and job search skills. Employ a variety of techniques to meet the needs of diverse learning styles, experience and education levels.
- Keep up-to-date on local labour market information through trainings and research.
- Compile and analyze statistics, prepare reports, maintain accurate, up-to-date files (soft and hard copy), and perform such other administrative duties as required.
- Perform outreach, present to community groups, social service organizations and others to increase client and partnership engagement, and provide itinerant employment services at other locations as required.
- Provide coverage and assist job-seekers in our Resource and Information (RI) centre as required.

**REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS**
- A post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline, preferably Career Counselling, and three or more years of experience in employment counselling, or a combined equivalent of education and experience.
- Strengths in case management and individual employment counselling with the ability to motivate, encourage and empower clients in a client-centered manner.
- The ability to monitor and achieve targets and deadlines and to successfully manage multiple and concurrent tasks.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of diversity, equity and inclusion sensitivity and the ability to work as a member of a team.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office including MS Teams, Zoom, DocuSign.) Knowledge of CaMS would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, including adults, youth, newcomers to Canada, as well as people experiencing poverty, addiction, mental health challenges and marginalization.
- Experience in employment workshop development, group facilitation and evaluation.
- The ability to track trends and service gaps, with superior data collection and interpretation skills.
- The willingness and flexibility to alter work schedules and duties to accommodate the needs of clients and/or TNG.
- Strong knowledge of employment programs and Ontario labour market issues, OW, ODSP, and Employment legislation, with the willingness to upgrade education and training.
