Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking a **Laboratory Supervisor **to join our **Concentrator Assay Lab** team in **Voisey's Bay, NL**.

**_This permanent position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a one week on, one week off rotation_**_._**

The **Laboratory Supervisor** is responsible and accountable for the operation of the Voisey's Bay remote mine site Analytical Chemistry Laboratory. The Supervisor will ensure that the lab employees work safely and according to the necessary technical standards and will spend a significant amount of time in the lab developing, validating and troubleshooting methods and equipment, as well as performing analyses.

Additionally, in this position, you will:

- Promote SafeOperations Program across Assay Lab team and fulfils the requirements established.
- Supervise laboratory employees (Chemists, Senior Chemists, Sample Preparation Technicians, and Chemical Analysts) with respect to safety, technical competence, and productivity.
- Develop, implement, maintain and troubleshoot procedures for preparation and analysis of samples.
- Implement and maintain QA/QC program to ensure laboratory analyses meet corporate requirements including audits.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is operated within manufacturers guidelines and takes a lead role in troubleshooting problems quickly and effectively.
- Ensure that the laboratory and sample preparation facilities are kept in the highest standard of cleanliness and safety.

**About You**

**Education**:

- Undergraduate Degree in Chemistry.

**Experience**:

- 8-10 years of direct laboratory experience.
- Mining experience would be considered an asset.

**Skills**:

- ** Knowledge of Computerized Electronic Instrumentation and Analytical Chemistry theory and practice, specifically as it relates to geochemical and environmental analysis.**:

- ** Ability to develop, validate and troubleshoot chemical procedures.**:

- Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (i.e., LabWare).
- ** Excellent equipment and instrumentation troubleshooting skills, and ability to perform minor repairs and servicing.**:

- ** Well-developed leadership, coaching, teamwork, and oral/written communication skills.**:

- ** Ability to work alone and with flammable, reactive, corrosive, toxic and carcinogenic chemicals; as well as other environmental hazards e.g., dust, noise, temperature and humidity extremes, as well as X-ray, UV, radio frequency and microwave radiation.**
