Platecon Projects Limited, a RothLochston Company, specializes in the design, engineering, fabrication, construction and repair of field erected API Storage tanks and plate structures. Since operations began in 1994, our in-house design and engineering expertise, combined with our experienced field personnel, allow us to execute large or small projects for clients with exacting precision. We are currently recruiting a **HSE Advisor** to join our team in Hamilton, Ontario.

The HSE Advisor will develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and procedures. You will work in cooperation with management, workers and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees/OHS Worker Representative to ensure our corporate, project and regulatory HSE commitments are met.

**Responsibilities**:

- To promote awareness of the HSE program.
- Help facilitate workplace safety and environmental inspections, JSA, JHA, THA, Toolbox Talks and Safe Work Observations for all projects, track actions and maintain documentation.
- Coordinate safety meetings for office and project/field staff.
- Support management and supervisory staff in their duty to see that all tasks are completed in conformance to corporate/project HSE requirements.
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations.
- Conduct inspections of PPE, lifting equipment, etc.
- Ensure any follow-up actions from inspections, investigations, etc. are recorded and tracked to completion.
- Participate in any defined loss prevention initiatives.
- Regularly observe work tasks to ensure conformance to corporate and project HSE requirements.
- Help facilitate both internal and external audits, regulatory compliance audits and COR® audits.
- Assist in the identification of HSE training requirements and schedule safety training for all staff.
- Assist in the collection, tracking and management of HSE performance indicators, prepare and deliver reports.
- Participate in the incident investigation process for any incidents, prepare detailed analysis and reports.
- Completion of HSE task logs as required.
- Communication to staff of lessons learned from internal or external investigation findings.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a college diploma program or equivalent, plus a minimum of 3 years in progressive HSE positions. A certified safety accreditation is preferred (NCSO, CRSP, etc.), or an equivalent level of education and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the WSIB Act and regulations and Ontario construction related safety regulations.
- Able to identify critical risks related to tank construction, specifically Rigging, Working at Heights, Hot Work and Confined Space Entry.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software programs.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Well-developed presentation and public speaking abilities.
