**Working Hours**: Typically, 5 days per week from Monday to Friday (35 hours a week). location of work and schedule will be determined by the Manager

**Working location**:This position requires work from the office 5 days per week at our 355 Church Street location

**Hourly rate**: $29.04, please note that this is a three months temporary contract.

NEW operates within a Sustainable Livelihoods Framework: The framework focuses on understanding the context that creates and perpetuates a client’s vulnerability to poverty, in order to support more active, strategic interventions. It focuses on a client’s assets rather than deficits. Assets can range from access to the basics of food, finances and shelter to social networks to individual skill and knowledge to self-confidence, self-esteem and personal resilience.

**Position Summary**:
As a member of the NEW Employment Services team at Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto, the Youth Employment Specialist will be expected to provide both individual and group support to youth 15 to 29 years of age with a client-centered approach that respects the self-determination of youth program participants.

The Youth Employment Specialist will provide ongoing one to one support and expertise through a comprehensive assessment founded in the principles of “motivational interviewing,” meetings, planning, goal/plan implementation and monitoring of progress.

This position requires one-on-one outreach to the youth in the community through attending community events, and responding to work placement crises during working hours. The outreach nature of this position requires excellent flexibility and adaptability.

The Youth Employment Specialist will work closely with the NEW Employment Team and community resources to assist clients in fully developing their skills, leveraging their assets and building their resilience as they work towards their personal goals and needs. The Youth Employment Specialist connects with youth online, through a work mobile phone and onsite in the community.

**Duties Include**:

- Provide individual support to clients referred to the Youth Job Connection Program including: intake assessment, one to one support with the collaboration of the NEW Employment Team, goal setting, long term case development, weekly case plan development, program monitoring, advocacy, referrals and follow up.
- Plan, deliver and facilitate per-employment trainings and workshops to youth enrolled in the program.
- Problem solving and solution focused strategies to meet all Employment Ontario Youth Job Connection targets and outcomes.
- Coordinate services for clients in partnerships with other community support services and within the NEW Employment Team.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with other service providers, i.e. health, harm reduction, Ontario Works, shelters, etc.
- Maintain an ongoing caseload of 20-25 youth at various stages of support.
- Meet with clients daily, weekly or bi-weekly when necessary.
- Track and evaluate each client’s progress directly and indirectly.
- Document daily logs/monthly and quarterly client progress reports.
- Attend weekly team meetings as well as client review meeting with staff and supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and complete case files for all clients.
- Collaborate with outreach in identifying refer youth.
- Organize evening outreach rides to provide information and referrals to young people in the community.

**Team Contributions and Expectations**:

- Participate in training and orientation of new staff, practicum students and volunteers as required
- Promote the principles of diversity and equity in all work related duties, wherever applicable
- Share budget updates to be able to make accurate commitments of support to Employers and clients

**Key Performance Indicators**:

- ✔ # of youth clients successfully matched with Employers

- ✔ # of attendees at community events
- ✔ # hours of employment and life skills coaching
- ✔ # of workshops delivered and 90% favourable rating from participants at end of workshop
- ✔ # of files closed
