**About this role**:
At Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development (CACD), we are all about empowering our youth in the community to develop a skill set necessary for success and social integration, through leadership training and mentoring programs.

The role of the Youth Worker is to directly support the implementation of CACD's **projects and programs**. The Youth Worker will assist and supports BIIPOC children and youth who are vulnerable and/or at risk through individual, group support, and outreach in the Region of Peel, increasing life skills, social networks, and safety using appropriate youth development models. Specific supports provided include, but are not limited to, the development of Youth-centered Plans with a focus on behaviour management, and social and life skills development. In addition, this position plays a significant role in reaching out to and supporting youth in the community by providing resources and information to youth-serving organizations, Schools, and Caregivers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the Implementation and facilitation of our current projects and programs, ensuring that the needs of the participants are attended to
- Ensures a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for children and youth providing age-appropriate activities with adaptations as needed
- Promotes behavioural change and personal growth of children and youth who are having difficulties coping because of social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays
- Designs, implements, and evaluates youth-centered individual plans to aid in transitioning youth to adulthood
- Provides life skills training as per goals set out by the youth and other stakeholders
- Supports youth to achieve their established goals using a strengths-based approach
- Assist with outreach and recruitment of program participants
- Be able to mentor or counsel individual young people
- Complete paperwork/ updates at the end of the daily sessional report
- Perform networking duties to foster strong community partnership with stakeholders and the community at large
- Maintain a relationship with guidance counselors at middle and high schools
- Ensure that program performance objectives are observed and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes
- Assist in the development of short
- and long-term plans for programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate the performance
- Assist with the maintenance of appropriate records; attendance, statistics, and conduct evaluations of the program including surveys and interviews, as well as focus group sessions
- Be able to use social media to communicate with participants, volunteers, and stakeholders
- Assist with the safety and security of the participants in the program
- Assist in the training and orientation of volunteers, co-op students, placements students, and project participants
- Follow CACD policies, procedures, and mandates, including those which relate to health and safety
- Maintain a professional relationship with peers, members, volunteers, parents, guidance counselors and members of the public, and
- Other tasks as may be assigned

**Qualification, education, and skills**:

- Post-secondary education and work experience in Human Services, Community Development, Social Services, or related field with an emphasis in working with children and youth (e.g., ECE, Recreation & Leisure, CYW, SSW, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years program planning and facilitation experience with children and youth in a community setting
- Demonstrated experience and interest in children's health and wellness, life skills, leadership, social issues, and cultural programming.
- Flexible, creative, good team player and ability to work independently when required
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Competent is the use of social media for communication and marketing
- Some knowledge of local community resources and services is an asset
- Strong community outreach and public relations skills and ability to liaise with community partners and leaders
- Able to facilitate and supervise virtually
- Ability to work in a diverse cultural, social, economic, and racial community
- Ability to work with children in a respectful and empowering manner
- Ability to handle emergencies, crises, and difficult situations
- Must have a current vulnerable sector criminal record check

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: $15.50-$28.00 per hour
