The Respiratory Therapy (RT) Student Clinical Extern (CE) will work in the capacity as an unregulated health care

provider, in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Respiratory Services. They are an integral member of

the healthcare team, working collaboratively with the clinical team under direct and/or indirect supervision of an

appointed TBRHSC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Support is provided by the Coordinator ‑ Critical Care &

Respiratory Services. The RT Student CE will contribute to high quality care for patients and families, while

demonstrating a commitment to excellence in supporting the patient and family experience. They will bring

experience and knowledge in respiratory therapy principles, RT equipment, respiratory supplies, medical gas

equipment, cleaning, calibration, and customer service support.

The RT Student CE position is open to RT students enrolled in their second or third year of a Canadian Respiratory

Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) approved RT program. RT Student CEs will be hired on a temporary basis.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
Must be an RT student in second or third year of training program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of

Respiratory Therapy Education.

Skills/Abilities:

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
