**The Opportunity**:
**Key Accountabilities**:

- Provide regulatory guidance, support and training to operations, engineering and contractor staff
- Implement and maintain the incident management and compliance assurance programs
- Participate in and follow up on the findings of internal and external regulatory audits and inspections
- Participate as the regulatory and environment group’s representative at the on-site emergency operations center as required
- Liaise with senior representatives from other business units to ensure the alignment of operating and regulatory strategies are met
- Understand the regulatory directives and the processes of the Alberta Energy Regulator to ensure compliance in all operations

**Other Details**:

- Job location: Horizon Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Shift schedule: 4x3 - Tuesday to Friday, 10 hours per day - with a rotating on call schedule with the other regulatory staff over the weekends
- Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Regular Policy
- Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience with a technical diploma or degree in a mechanical or chemical engineer or environmental discipline
- An understanding of oil sands mining facilities and activities and Alberta regulatory requirements, experience with upgrading and refining would be an asset
- Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to make difficult decisions in a timely manner to support business units and regulators agencies
- Excellent analytical skills in report writing and spreadsheet development to ensure internal and external reports are accurate and complete
