**CBVRCE 2024 NSTU-001 - Youth Pathways Consultant (Perm)**:
The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Minimum TC5;
- Minimum five (5) years' experience facilitating community-based learning initiatives at the secondary level;
- Knowledge of community-based learning programs in the CBVRCE;
- Strong planning, leadership, organizational and facilitative skills;
- Excellent oral, written and electronic communication skills;
- Administrative experience is considered an asset;
- Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities required

**YOUTH PATHWAYS CONSULTANT**

**Responsibilities**

The Regional and CSAP Youth Pathways Consultants are responsible for:
1. Implementing Department of Education and Early Childhood Development policies, procedures, protocols, and strategies related to Career Pathways division programming including the Options and Opportunities Program, Co-operative Education, Discovering Opportunities, Skilled Trades and Related Learning, and High Skills Major Certificates.

2. Supporting the delivery of curriculum related to Career Pathways division programming.

3. Participating in scheduled Youth Pathways Consultant meetings organized by Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

4. Organizing and supporting a variety of curriculum related experiential learning opportunities with community partners.

5. Promoting and supporting programs, including myBlueprint and Nova Scotia Works School Liaisons, that assist students and families in making informed decisions about postsecondary and career options.

6. Working with schools to ensure that principals and teachers are prepared to manage risks associated with experiential and skilled trades learning.

7. Coordinating and supporting required safety training and credentialing for students such as Fall Protection and MED/DVS training.

8. Consulting with the School Insurance Program to ensure that appropriate insurance coverage is in effect for students when engaged in experiential and community-based learning.

9. Supporting the recognition of partners in community-based learning.

10. Developing and strengthening working partnerships with post-secondary institutions, apprenticeship, employers, and the community to enrich and expand experiential and community-based learning.

11. Organizing professional learning and opportunities for collaboration for teachers, administrators, and other staff to support the effective delivery of Career Pathways division programming. March 2024

12. Advising regional/ CSAP Directors of Programs in effective allocation of resources (FTE, support funding, PPE, tools, equipment) to effectively support and deliver Career Pathways division programming.

13. Supporting the management of budgets related to Career Pathways division programming.

14. Promoting opportunities for skilled trades exposure through the effective management, distribution and reporting of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency “WorkIt” funding.

15. Ensuring that administration, their region/ CSAP and EECD are kept aware of issues, concerns, and successes in Career Pathways division programming.

16. Supporting the organization and the delivery of summer sector programming.

17. Supporting Career Pathways division initiatives.

Salary is as per NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement

Teaching components for administrative positions (Principal or Vice Principal) may change from year to year based on school teaching staff and student enrollment.
