The Impact North Shore Language Programs offer a wide range of English language learning classes to newcomers on the North Shore.

**Summary**

The IELTS Instructor will be supported by the Language Leads and work under the direction of the Manager of Language Programs. The IELTS Instructor will plan, prepare and deliver General IELTS preparation lessons that meet the needs of a diverse group of students, helping them to achieve their respective goals. Classes will be held in a hybrid format with a combination of in-person and online delivery.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and deliver a variety of IELTS Prep lessons which focus on the four key skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Teach classes focussed on IELTS General Training Tests
- Conduct and grade IELTS practice tests regularly
- Mark and monitor students’ progress
- Provide learners with sound study advice and strategies as they progress through their studies
- Provide online instruction using language learning software, Zoom and MS Office programs, as needed
- Maintain attendance records and other documentation, as required

**Qualifications**:

- TESOL or CELTA certificate from an accredited institution recognized by TESOL Canada.
- Minimum 1 year of teaching IELTS Preparation classes.
- Minimum 2- 3 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to adult newcomers.
- Experience providing online training will be an asset.
- Exceptional understanding of English language grammatical analysis.
- Experience in delivering and marking mock practice tests in all skills and ability to provide learners with feedback on areas that they can improve upon.
- Ability to adapt teaching methodology to the needs of individual learners.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of adult immigrants and refugees.
- Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.

**Additional Information**

Class Schedule & Hours (to-be confirmed):
1. Daytime classes - 1pm to 4pm - 3 days per week

2. Evening classes - 6pm to 9pm - 3 days per week

Salary Range: $34.00 to $36.00 per hour

You will teach 3 hours per class and be paid an additional 2 hours per class for marking practice tests, prep and curriculum development as needed.

This position will start in January 2023 with a total of 150 work hours per cohort, spread over 10 weeks.
