- **Be between the ages of 16 and 30 years at the start of their employment at Archway;**:

**The Canada Summer Jobs program objectives are to**:

- provide quality experiences for youth;
- respond to national and local priorities to improve access to the labour market for youth who face unique barriers to employment, i.e., youth who are early leavers of high school, not in employment, education or training; black and other racialized youth; youth with disabilities; Indigenous youth; and
- provide opportunities for youth to develop and improve their skills.

**Job Summary**:
The Canada Summer Jobs Youth Program Facilitator is responsible for planning group instructional cycles to support newcomer youth ages 11 to 18. This position hosts sessions and field trips with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and provides them with instructional support. The Youth Program Facilitator plans and facilitates creative activities that connect youth with topics including English, literacy, life skills, goal setting, team building, and recreation.

**Your Role**:
Archway’s Youth Program Facilitator with the Immigrant Youth Services Program contributes by:

- Working in partnership with the Summer Literacy Program Instructor to plan and conduct activities for newcomer youth.
- As part of a team, planning and facilitating an 8-week group instructional cycle. Instructional components may include but are not limited to: English, literacy, life skills, goal setting, team building, and recreation.
- Organizing and facilitating field trips.
- Assessing the needs of participants and adjusting planned activities accordingly.
- Preparing and serving snacks for program participants.
- Informing participants of the youth services available at Archway Community Services and in Abbotsford.
- Facilitating group sessions involving speaking in front of groups and engaging people in group activities.
- Ensuring all client files are complete with information clearly and precisely documented and all agency confidentiality policies and guidelines are followed.
- Transporting participants as needed.

This position is a great fit for someone who is outgoing, able to build relationships and rapport with newcomer youth, and has good time management skills.

**Our Offer**:

- Wage: $19.50 per hour
- A full-time position at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

**Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have**:

- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience in engaging and working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience delivering program services using a variety of software and technology.
- Ability to read, write and/or speak an additional language is an asset (e.g., Arabic, Pashto, Dari)

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- Ability to work with and support newcomer youth; able to build relationships and rapport, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Computer skills, able to use and support participants using online meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, or demonstrate the willingness to learn.
- Ability to work outdoors during excursions and field trips.
- Ability to drive for Program related work, and transport clients.
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Food Safe Level 1 is an asset.
- First Aid with CPR Certification is a condition of employment.
