**WORK HOURS**:35 hrs/week

**DBNC** is an accredited, non-profit organization providing support services to residents of Mississauga including newcomers to Canada, youth, seniors, and families. **JOB SUMMARY**:
This position is responsible to assists clients to find and maintain employment under the Peel Integrated Services Model of Employment Ontario.

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**
- General activities and functions include, but are not limited to:

- Provide clients with a welcoming, safe, and professional manner while ensuring their right to privacy.
- Conduct Common Assessment (CAT) and Intake of new clients, create Employment Action Plans (EAP) and use case management skills to identify their level of employment readiness, strengths and barriers to achieve individual targets and contribute towards overall team outcomes eventually.
- Encourage and motivate clients to overcome challenges by providing counselling, guidance and support, boosting clients’ confidence, life skills, attitudes, and work ethic, and achieve client participation toward realistic, sustainable goals
- Manage timely case files and notes in CaseFlo and CaMS; document processes, track and record progress and results.
- Support and monitor clients’ progress through regular follow-ups, and make referrals to appropriate community resources/partners as required.
- Support clients in career exploration, labour market research, resume building, interview preparation, networking, mentoring, training options, BJO etc
- Conduct outreach and advocate on behalf of the client to employers and provide ongoing retention support (including monitoring and troubleshooting) to ensure sustainable employment
- Monitor the client while in placement (includes referrals to and liaison with Job Developer) to verify client engagement, ensure documentation requirements are completed
- Attend local job fairs, host employer-related networking opportunities and workshops
- Perform other duties as required to assist colleagues or to do work related to other roles whenever necessary(this highlighted text is not needed)

**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**

**Qualifications**:

- Experience in conducting and interpreting Client Needs Assessments; coaching and mentoring Clients; working with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds; working with individuals from a variety of Inclusion Groups; and building partnerships with employers, community agencies, and other stakeholders
- Experience with Employment Ontario and other online tools such as CaMS and online employment services, including Second Career-preferred
- Successful track record helping clients to overcome barriers to employment
- Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, government programs, job search techniques, career development and issues relating to unemployment
- Ability to establish a good match between a Client's skill set and abilities, and the needs of an employer
- Outstanding customer service orientation, with the ability to diffuse tense situations
- Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional, positive manner, able to build trusting relationships and be a team player
- Excellent, effective communication skills, both oral and in written format, creating and delivering business presentations
- Decision-making skills and effective at problem-solving and negotiating resolutions
- Excellent documentation and report writing skills, as well as in interviews/assessments, professional resume writing, vocational counselling, and individualized goal-setting and planning
- Self-motivated, creative, energetic, and able to work as part of an effective team with other program staff, employers, mentors, and other stakeholders
- Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct; must submit for a criminal record check
- Ability to work flexible business hours, evenings, and non-statutory holidays
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- Proficiency in English, fluent in the Ukrainian language and/or another language, is an asset.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent time and project management, organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up
- Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change

**EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION**:

- Post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education, or human resources management) preferred
