**Program Coordinator**:
**Primary Purpose**: The Program Coordinator effectively administers and coordinates the professional programs (Master of Sustainability, Master of Water Security, and graduate certificates) in the School of Environment and Sustainability (SENS). The primary goal of this position is to support student success and enhance student experience through all stages of the student lifecycle.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Manager, Academic Programs, the Program Coordinator demonstrates leadership in all aspects of coordination and administration for the SENS professional graduate programs. Assisting in the development and execution of key program components, this position will serve as the main point of contact and support for incoming and current students, faculty, and external partners for the professional programs in SENS. This position also plays a key role in the student recruitment process. This position is of high complexity and works largely independently. The SENS Graduate Programs Office is a busy, high-volume environment, where timely, efficient, and effective communication and the ability to build positive relationships will be essential. Confidential materials are routinely handled. The incumbent must be able to employ problem-solving and organizational skills to determine priorities within an environment of multiple deadlines, frequent interruption, and competing demands. The ability to manage through constantly shifting priorities while maintaining forward progress is essential. The ability to travel and to work outside of typical office hours may be necessary on occasion.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
**Student Experience and Success**
- Coordinate and facilitate the entire student experience in SENS—including recruitment, admissions, registration, graduation, and guidance—for all professional programs (MSs, MWS, and graduate certificates).
- Provide information to prospective applicants regarding academic requirements, admissions, and registration.
- Communicate with students related to pre-requisites, course scheduling, course selection, career pathways, and graduation requirements.
- Maintain direct contact with students, supporting students as they resolve issues that occur in and out of the classroom environment, provide available resources, and work with students experiencing academic difficulty.
- Track students’ progress in meeting requirements and milestones—including entering student information into necessary software systems (e.g., Recruit, Banner), developing and maintaining tracking spreadsheets, and updating and tracking students through their entire graduate programs.
- Assist Program Directors with academic advising and program planning support to incoming and current professional program graduate students.
- Support the Project Directors with communications with partner organizations for the purpose of identifying project placements for students.

**SENS and Program Success**
- Collaboration with the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (CGPS), develop and implement policies and procedures in SENS that reflect best practices for graduate admissions and programs.
- Ensure accurate implementation of university and school polices and procedures.
- Work with the Manager, Academic Programs and Assistant Director Academic, to implement and evaluate recruitment strategies and materials specific to the MSs and MWS programs.
- Organize and facilitate SENS online recruitment sessions, and work with the central team to identify and represent the School in other opportunities for recruitment and promotion (e.g., career days, orientation, recruitment fairs, etc.).
- Assist with developing relevant metrics to measure success and guide decision making for the professional graduate programs.
- Maintain organized and accurate records and administrative processes to support student and program success.
- Work as part of a team to support the needs of SENS and actively and effectively participate on committees (e.g., Admissions and Awards Committee) as assigned.
- Coordinate special projects (e.g., orientation).
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education**: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a preference for a background in environment, resource management, or sustainability fields. A different combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program coordination with a focus on administrative and organizational effectiveness.
- Experience with counselling and advising students.
- Experience with university policies and procedures with an emphasis on Graduate Studies.
- In depth knowledge of graduate education programs and experience using Banner, Recruit, and PAWS would be strong assets.
