**Job specifications**:
The role of a Painter Assistant or Paint Apprentice is a full-time position where the successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Painter/Finisher and team leads assisting in the manufacturing of elevator interior components. Key responsibilities consist of all aspects of the finish process including cleaning, sanding, prepping, caulking, staining, wiping, brushing, and spraying.

**Education/experience**
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Commercial/Industrial painter including spraying, wiping, brushing, and sanding.
- Knowledge of industry standard finishes and finish processes.
- Thorough understanding of urethane and solvent-based finish systems, any patina skills would be considered an asset.
- Experience with various spray technologies including Airless, HVLP, Gravity fed cup guns and pressure pots.
- Colour matching experience and standard quality control practices.
- Intermediate knowledge of hand and power tools and general manufacturing processes.
- Able to read a measuring tape and convert measurements.
- Familiarity with CAD Drawings and working with different types of materials.

**Responsibilities/Accountability**:

- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and filling holes or cracks
- Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape to protect surrounding areas
- Calculate the amount of materials needed for each project
- Clean up tools and equipment after each job
- Assist with other tasks as needed
- Assist the Lead Painter perform cleaning, priming and corrosion resistant (spray paint) finishing operations on architectural metal extrusions and other components (wood)
- Self-starter, taking initiative and safety conscious
- Must always adhere to safe work practices and procedures as well as all other applicable health and safety laws and regulations

**Position conditions**:

- Standing and walking, occasional medium to heavy lifting and bending.
- Some evening and weekend work opportunities for Over time
- Works in dusty/noisy environments at times
- Work area can be hot and humid during summer season, cold during winter
- Must wear appropriate PPE supplied by company, however will need to bring in your own protective footwear (steel toed shoe/boot) when you start
- Heavy lifting and manual material handling required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 43 per week
