**Job Description**:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Minimum Nurse-Patient Ratios (mNPR) for Island Health, the Director, Nursing Practice Lead, mNPR is responsible for setting the strategy and leading the promotion of excellence and advancement of mNPR relevant to the strategic direction of the Organization. Working in close collaboration with senior leadership, key partners, and operational leaders across hospital, community, LTC and non-hospital settings to advance mNPR to improve experience, quality and outcomes for the people served. This role guides the development and/or adoption of professional standards and practice, scope, and regulations, supports research activities, and fosters collaboration and problem solving between programs, projects and professional staff. Acts as an expert resource and provides day-to-day oversight to Nursing Practice Consultants and Clinical Nurse Educators and provides expert consultative advice to operational leaders to implement mNPR to improve practice environments with the aim of enhancing effective and efficient quality of care for those we serve.

The Director is responsible to monitor and evaluate, in collaboration with operational leaders and others, the implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of mNPR within the organization.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Master's Degree in nursing with seven (7) to ten (10) year's recent, related experience and leadership experience in a complex health care environment including program planning, education, facilitation and project leadership or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Comprehensive understanding of current thinking related to practice, leadership, care and service delivery, budgets, project management, change, and quality improvement. Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

- Understands available resources for practice and keeps quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; provides knowledgeable input into the planning and resources allocation for Service(s)/Program(s) within the Community of Care.
- Demonstrates comprehensive expertise of area to transform theory into program strategy and direction.
- Facilitates, collaborates and negotiates for effective resolution of practice issues.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to foster a respectful and motivating work environment where individual competencies can thrive.
- Keeps informed about evolving trends and practices, shares knowledge and supports Nurses to integrate evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality care/services while optimizing nursing scope.
- Fosters collaborative and effective working relationships to support the professional practice and ongoing development of staff and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
- Uses strong written communication skills in the development of reports, business cases, etc. and in internal and external partner engagement.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
