**Role Summary**

Sun Life Retail Advice & Solutions (RA&S) is one of the leading financial institutions that offer Canadians holistic advice and innovative solutions including insurance, wealth and health through a team of digitally-enabled and insights-driven human advisors.

**What will you do?**
- ** Data Analytics strategy development and execution**
- Develop data analytics strategy that enables business medium-term strategy to create sustainable growth
- Implement data analytics strategy by adapting and / or transforming existing data engineering, business intelligence, and advanced analytics functions
- Partner with CXO Data Analytics team to align with overall Canada data analytics strategy.
- ** Data foundation transformation**
- Maintain existing data foundation for business intelligence, and self serve and advanced analytics
- Adapt data foundation as needed to meet analytics and business intelligence needs while ensuring it is continuously operational with mínimal disruption
- Lead transformation initiative to migrate data foundation to a modern cloud-based environment
- ** Strategic insights**
- Identify and review strategic issues facing the business and provide analysis, decision support, and develop implementation ready strategies and tactics
- Drive thought leadership in solving strategic issues using data driven approaches using data analytics
- ** Business Intelligence**
- Run business intelligence function that supports decision making and performance management
- Manage and prioritize request in-take from various stakeholders that optimize delivery across factors such as value, time-to-market, and effort
- Lead efforts to democratize data analytics by creating self serve capabilities for power users to access data, conduct analysis and generate insights
- Ensure business intelligence function delivers value to business stakeholders, e.g. turn complex data into easy-to-understand insights with optimized visualizations
- ** Data science and advanced analytics**
- Lead execution of data science projects and manage coordination of project delivery across functions
- Operationalize analytical models in the field by addressing technology, process and change management requirements
- Collaborate with data analytics partners in Canada and ES to leverage common capabilities, tools and assets
- ** Compliance and knowledge management**
- Implement consistent and comprehensive standards in documentation across data engineering, business intelligence and analytical models
- Maintain documentation of existing data processes and models
- Ensure knowledge are cross pollinated across the team to minimize key personnel knowledge risk
- Ensure data and analytical processes adhere to compliance processes and data privacy policies, e.g. MEUC, PIA
- ** Communication and relationship management**
- Effectively communicate key insights, ideas and strategies, to an executive level audience in a clear, compelling and concise manner
- Proactively stay in touch with internal partners to maintain an understanding of new developments in their areas
- Tailor both written and verbal communication based on audience and situation to maximize buy-in and establish productive working relationships
- ** Team management and other accountabilities**
- Lead and coach a diverse reporting team through proactive career development and continuous feedback loop
- Actively promote Sun Life brand and community image to attract talent and external partners
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and policy requirements

**What will you need to succeed?**
- Minimum of 10 years relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management or other financial services
- Experience in leading advanced data analytics functions, e.g. predictive analytics, business intelligence, data engineering
- Strong business and technical understanding of data and advanced analytics concepts and technology
- Experience in leading high performing teams and professional knowledge workers
- Experience in financial and quantitative analysis, including using modelling tools and techniques, would be an asset
- University degree in business, engineering, computer science or related discipline
