**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**

The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee (JCSC) is seeking passionate, reliable, and self
- motivated individuals to assist with the development and delivery of with environmental outreach and education programs for the Junction Creek watershed. The Environmental Educator Assistant will work with the JCSC team to help community members connect with nature, increase appreciation and knowledge for the environment, and raise awareness about current issues facing
Junction Creek. The project will be completed in collaboration with community partners, local experts, and Knowledge Holders, and will involve various educational programs such as Bug Search, Watershed & Stream Health, community science, and more.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Environmental Educator Assistant will help coordinate and deliver educational programs, outreach material, guided hikes, and community stewardship activities for the Junction Creek watershed. They will work alongside the JCSC team under the supervision of the Executive Director and Environmental Communication Intern. This position offers a unique opportunity to raise environmental awareness and gain hands-on experience in communications and education.

The Environmental Educator Assistant will be primarily responsible for educational programs but will also have the opportunity to assist with other tasks related to field research and environmental restoration.

**Specific duties will include**:

- Coordinating and delivering outdoor and indoor educational programs to students and the public to increase knowledge in water stewardship and restoration, local environmental concerns, and the Junction Creek watershed.
- Public outreach and community engagement at events and on social media. Promoting watershed stewardship and Junction Creek Stewardship Committee program initiatives.
- Assisting with stewardship activities, environmental research, and monitoring programs for Junction Creek, as needed.
- Planning, organizing, and managing daily assigned work. Completing tracking sheets, reports, taking photographs, and keeping detailed records.
- Attending meetings, conducting administrative duties, and other project-related tasks as required.

**ASSET SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Field of study, passion, or experience related to nature, science communication, or teaching preferred.
- Knowledge of Sudbury’s wildlife and watershed conservation issues are an asset.
- Bilingual, with oral and written fluency in French is a strong asset.
- Excellent communications and presentation skills with people of all ages.
- Personable, with good interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and able to work within a team environment.
- Enjoy working outdoors, rain or shine.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with little to no supervision at times.
- Organized and resourceful with a demonstrated ability to time-manage and appropriately prioritize projects.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams.
- Valid Class G Driver’s Licence with clean driving record is an asset.
- First Aid and CPR training is an asset.
- Able to work occasional weekends and weekday evenings.
- Able to provide community programs following health and safety protocols.

**ELIGIBILITY**
- between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
- legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
