Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Safety Programs and Projects, the incumbent supports safety programs, projects, and products across aspects of NAV CANADA’s Safety Promotion and Safety and Quality business systems activities, which includes safety management training, safety communications, and safety culture, Safety and Quality business systems and other related functional activities. The Specialist provides expertise in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and providing practical guidance and advice to senior management or team members. The individual may function as an individual contributor as well as lead and coordinate small technical teams, considering safety implications in business analysis, and contributes to NAV CANADA’s Safety Promotion through safety-focused guidance to other groups within NAV CANADA

In this role you will:
Supports, coordinates, and contributes to the successful implementation of programs, projects, and products related to Safety Promotion including safety management training, safety communications, safety culture, business systems and other related functional activities. Supports NAV CANADA’s Strategic Priorities by collecting, maintaining, communicating, and distributing relevant data as it relates to Safety Promotion and Safety and Quality business systems. Collaborates and communicates with internal and external stakeholders in support of Safety Promotion and Safety and Quality business systems. Provides feedback in support of business decisions that may have cross-functional impacts as it relates to Safety Promotion and Safety and Quality business systems including requirements collection, documentation development, status updates, training development and delivery, and other activities. Leads or participates in required project activities be it with other team members or other groups within NAV CANADA. Other tasks assigned in support and advancement of NAV CANADA’s safety management training, safety communications, safety culture, and safety and quality business systems.

The Specialist, Safety Programs and Projects, is expected to act autonomously regarding collecting, maintaining, communicating, and gathering business objectives for future enhancements. This position is expected to effectively communicate to employees, managers, small groups, and mass audiences across the organization. Decisions/actions could adversely impact data quality, relations with users and stakeholders (both internal and external). Decisions/actions could negatively impact the control access to the reporting tool. Task priorities can be modified on short notice

What you bring:

- College diploma or university degree in Communications, Education and/or related to Project Management (Business Administration, Business Management, Project Management, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Safety Promotion, including Safety communications and/or Safety culture such as Just Culture
- Safety and Quality business systems
- Development and maintenance of Safety Management Systems (SMS) policies, standards, and process;
- Safety performance measurement;
- Human performance/human factors;
- Safety risk management and associated safety assessment techniques;
- Training development and/or delivery;
- Customer requirement development;
- Leadership or supervisor position;
- Equivalent experience in aviation or safety related position.
