**What you’ll be doing**

Reporting to the Director, Information Management, and under the direction of the Data Analyst II team lead, the Data Analyst I (DA I) requires an understanding of BCCNM’s mandate and statutory obligations to collect, process and disclose information under our legislative framework and information sharing agreements signed with external organizations.

The work of the DAI is to identify and facilitate the collection of accurate and reliable data for BCCNM to make informed business decisions on our registrants, support the authorized disclosure of information and to support operational decision making.

The DA I is responsible for working with data owners to ensure the quality and integrity of data collected and created by BCCNM is accurate and reliable.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Translate the requirements from stakeholders and utilize tools to meet their data needs and to address business requirements
- Prepares, cleans and analyzes the data and to retrieve the data using appropriate tools and/or processes.
- Implements controls on the lifecycle management of data including, data preparation, data analysis, data modelling, and data evaluation.
- In consultation with DA II and Manager, operationalize the delivery of data requests, surveys, reports and to support e-discovery and/or FOI requests.
- Assesses the data including understanding the interrelationships among data elements, investigating data quality issues, and works with the relevant data owners and stakeholders to correct and/or improve data quality issues.
- Reviews and maintains a data migration project and/or a national registry.
- Responds to requests from internal and external stakeholders for data, develops reports, dashboards, and data extracts to meet reporting requirements.
- Implements and maintains a data glossary and data dictionary which includes defining, and classifying information fields.
- Operationalizes the routine transfer of data with external organizations in accordance with BCCNM’s information sharing agreement.
- Monitors and verifies that the data extracted from organizational systems is accurate.
- Responds to and addresses privacy and confidentiality considerations relating to requests for information and reports.
- Collaborates with Senior Information Systems Security Analyst to improve data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
- Collaborates with, Records Analysts, Corporate Risk Analyst, Business Analysts, and Systems Analysts, to provide a comprehensive level of support for information management to BCCNM and provides indirect support to external stakeholders that seek support from, or collaboration with, BCCNM.
- Provides direct support to BCCNM on all aspects of data management.

**Your education & skills**
- A baccalaureate degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics.
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a data/information and/or reporting analyst managing and controlling data.
- Demonstrated experience working with databases (MS SQL), advanced MS Excel, extract, transform, and load (ETL) frameworks, knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and business intelligence tools.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and manage workload within a time sensitive environment.
- Demonstrated ability to keep track of industry trends in data analytics including artificial intelligence, machine learning and the Internet of Things.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to use audience appropriate communication and language to present information, analyze results and convey concepts.
- Experience with Dynamics CRM and SharePoint is an asset.
