**Job Summary**

This role will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of building systems for an enterprise mission critical Data Centre. The primary focus is equipment uptime inclusive of performing preventative maintenance, analyzing operational data, energy management, responding to operational concerns and fulling work requests. The position will include the planning, implementation and coordination of all electrical/mechanical operations, external maintenance, and stakeholder communications. Performance and technical direction for the execution of tasks in highly sensitive environments.

**What is the opportunity?**

Work within the group at the Royal Bank of Canada responsible for overseeing the mission-critical operation of the Enterprise Data Centres; specifically, to support and gain experience with the complex mechanical and electrical engineering systems that are integral to the successful operation of the Data Centres with optimal ‘uptime’.

**What will you do?**
- Responsible for the operation of mission-critical building systems, including high voltage electrical, UPS, emergency generator, HVAC and fire detection/suppression systems that interface with mission critical computer and auxiliary support systems.
- Performing maintenance and/or providing technical oversight on various building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC and electrical remaining current with latest standards/requirements.
- Response to emergency situations including but not limited to fire, evacuation, and equipment failure.
- Investigation of operational and technical anomalies to determine root-cause and assist in developing solutions for future mitigation
- Monitor and analyze data collected from the various critical systems, identifying opportunities for optimization and improved resiliency.
- Assist with the design and optimization of the critical mechanical and electrical engineering systems.
- Extract, analyze data from Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool and generate reports
- Develop relationship and maintain strong communications with internal business partners and external service providers.

**What do you need to succeed?**

**Must-have**
- In depth understanding of Electrical and Mechanical systems
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of building systems
- Ability to troubleshooting building systems and diagnose equipment failure; Experience in drawing review and development
- Strong engineering and analytical skills; Strong communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint, Word and Excel
- Strong work ethic; Ability to work without direct supervision

**Nice-to-have**
- Previous experience in a Data Centre environment
- Previous experience working with complex mechanical engineering systems, including Cooling Plant, or complex electrical engineering systems, including electrical Generation Plants
- Skilled Trade
- Experience with DCIM software
- Excel macro knowledge
