Program Manager

Reporting to the Program Operational Director for Perioperative Services, the Program Manager is responsible for the overall leadership of a patient care program/units and in the delivery of quality care to patients/families in the program.
The Program Manager is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the corporate strategy by demonstrating an awareness of and actively promoting patient and family-centered engagement and care.
The Manager will use a team-based approach to care delivery so as to support, promote, and lead through example the adoption of the organization’s strategic direction. The Manager enables the interdisciplinary care team members to coordinate and integrate services, and encourages ongoing performance improvement. The incumbent maximizes the use of available resources to facilitate efficient patient care and excellence.
This role is responsible for developing and monitoring policies and budgets, quality improvement, managing human resources, promoting best practices and using clinical knowledge and leadership skills for actively promoting and supporting patient and family-centered engagement and care. Demonstrates effective leadership through promotion of change, facilitation of effective responses and creative initiatives in collaboration with the leadership and health care team. Applies quality improvement principles to advance processes and create efficiencies specific to perioperative services. Responsible for ensuring that the organization’s policies and procedures are followed to create a safe work and practice environment. Working with clinical teams to facilitate safe practices in the delivery of patient care.
**PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Access and analyze clinical, statistical and financial information. Develop, manage and evaluate the operations of a service or program and ensure efficient and effective allocation of human, financial, and material resources. Create memos/briefing notes/business cases which lead to the development of new programs and/or the expansion of existing programs.-
- Coordinate the delivery and evaluation of patient care, professional practice, safety & risk management, continuous quality improvement as well as compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Develop and review Policy/ Medical Directives/Delegated Controlled Acts. Promote best practice through clinical knowledge and leadership skills. Responding to and resolving patient relations concerns.-
- Promote and support strategies and mechanisms which foster learning, workplace wellness & safety, professional growth, mentoring and teaching for all inter-professional disciplines. Set goals and objectives through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Participate in regular program evaluation and redesign in order to ensure evidence-based treatment is meeting the needs of the populations we serve.-
- Coordinate/Collaborate with People Services around hiring, development of posting requirements, job descriptions, performance & attendance management, conflict resolution, and communication with bargaining units. Counselling staff and/or improving environmental barriers as part of the process in resolving patient relation concerns.-
- Manage strategic alliances with members of the healthcare industry, community organizations, government agencies, regulatory bodies, educational institutions and other stakeholders.-

- Undergraduate degree in Nursing, Allied Health or Health Administration from an Ontario University or equivalent.-
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Allied Health or Health Administration or equivalent from a Canadian University or a recognized equivalent preferred.-
- 3 - 5 years considerable position related experience required-
- Previous recent related experience that demonstrates effective leadership to multiple levels of staff preferred-
- Minimum three to five years healthcare experience preferred-
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (Microsoft office Suite)-
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.-
- Experience with Project Management and/or continual quality improvement methodology.-
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change.-
- Demonstrated sound judgment, decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills.-
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.-
- Ability to deal with numerous demands in a professional and competent manner.-
